Various luxury watches (Baume & Mercier, Breitling, Tag Heuer) discounted @ Watches of Switzerland (instore only)

Sadly, they've not discounted the Seamaster PO I've been eyeing up, but some chunky discounts on around 20 or so other watches (would've added it to the previous WoS thread, but it's marked as expired…

I think you will find that the deal is that there is one and only one of each watch in the whole chain at that price. Certainly the case with the 2 I enquired about earlier.
great effort on writing all the models and prices. thanks.

btw how did you find out about these? did you go instore and write all the prices down on a paper?
Still expensive stuff but thanks for effort in summing up what's on offer :)

Now, if I could find a Navitimer for around £1500....

You really need to do a Google on Breitling Watches, there are lot's of unhappy purchasers out there that fell for all of the hype.

They are clearly not reliable, they are not even properly water resistant, very expensive repair costs, have a read up on them, you may well take off your rose tinted glasses.

(_;)

Even if there are (which no doubt you searched for "Breitling problems"), why do you feel the need to keep promoting this? It seems like one-upmanship, just because you didn't buy one.
And what's all this nonsense about "hype", is everything that is expensive "hype" in your book, and that you don't believe that better quality stuff costs more? Or you'd like to think your Casio is the business?

Aren't Casios all hyped up though? Why did you buy a Casio? Did you fall for all the "hype"? I've done a google for Casio watches and have found a lot of unhappy purchasers out there, clearly they fell for the hype.

But to suggest it should cost the same as an electric quartz which is a circuit board and fewer internals versus an age old spring driven instrument is disingenuous at best, at worst it’s just flame bait or jealousy.

You can get Breitling quartzes which cost a few thousand, you can get Rotary automatic watches which cost under £50 ( http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2835259/c_1/1|category_root|Jewellery+and+watches|14416987/c_2/2|14416987|Men%27s+watches|14417316.htm ). I simply don't buy into the argument that automatic = very expensive or quartz = very cheap.

Interesting, that Rotary analogue has a lifetime warranty if serviced every 3 years!
I take it all back, Inactive was right - its all hype ;)

Nice is subjective in terms ugliness or not.

Just out of curiosity what makes you say this?

Both terms are used to describe how pleasing an item is, in this case how aesthetically pleasing an item is. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so surely each term is subjective.

Not sure I follow or what you're asking, but "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" was what I was driving at as well.

Whats the best looking watch with a leather strap up to £300 ??? Want one for new years eve with my girlfriend at party !

Purely personal taste of course but how about the PRC200 from the Swiss watchmaker Tissot, a quality watch that wont break the bank. Expect to pay in the £220-£300 range, example:

Pleased I could help.

Wow, paid full price for it just 2 weeks ago. Gutted! :(
joeprosho
so it tells me the time.. it has gaydon written on it and costs me 11,000 quid??

I'm with joeprosho...... never buy anything with the word GAYDON on it.... especially when it's something you wear on your wrist and you're going to tell people you've paid 11 grand for it :{
I'll have 2 for that price..:p
unknown brand, walk away, buy a Casio instead.. :p
