This film sucked, the DC is 3 hours of my life I'll never get back.

The only thing I would say if you are offended by blue dongs don't watch this film.

I thought the film was great but it won't be to everybody's tastes as it's more of a thought provoking film and less of an all out action flick (although there is plenty of spectacular action too).

However, it's the theatrical cut that's been released in the UK and not the 25 minute longer directors cut which the US and Canada got. I think they'll be releasing the DC here around Xmas. (Just got the DC on bluray from PLayUSA today.....)

+1 Boody dire that's what it was. Reminded me of Dune! Anyone wanting to buy this - THINK TWICE - rent it first.

Bloody incredible film, though I recommend people read the book first (just because, as it always is with book to film adaptations, the book is better). Not for everyone, but it's definitely in my top films of the year! Jackie Earle Haley is so good as Rorschach!

His performance was very good but the film was poor

one of those films that ***** at the start, but you stick with it hoping it will get better...and it doesnt , so you kick yourself for not switching it off after 10 minutes.
Probably one of the worst films ive seen.

Worst film I've seen in many a day. Contained a few unintentional laughs though.

I don't blame people for not liking it - it's the marketing department's fault. They sold the film as an epic action film, promising an awesome blue dude who can blow people up, a superhero movie with sex and violence etc., which Watchmen just isn't. The fact that it's a character study, a deconstruction of "super-hero" conventions never comes across from the marketing of the film, so people went in expecting something that the film never aimed to give. For some it will "click", and for others it won't, if it DOES "click" for you then it's one of the best films of the year. But I can definitely understand why people wouln't like it. At this price, it's worth getting purely for it's status as a "marmite" film, and, who knows, after repeat viewings (to which the film totally holds up), it might gain further new fans and become hailed as a classic, a la Fight Club / Shawshank Redemption / Blade Runner
