The Director's Cut on stunning Blu-ray. The Directors cut of the feature is approximately 25 minutes longer, incorporating more elements from the graphic novel. This eagerly anticipated version offers more violence and reworked scenes with additional dialogue to give greater depth to this visual masterpiece. Also included are new commentary contributions from Director Zach Snyder and Graphic Novel illustrator Dave Gibbons.

A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock"--which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union--moves closer to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion--a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers--Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past.

Seen this version and speaking to people who saw the normal version - this one makes more sense of the story, its a love or hate film - I personally loved it - thought it better than the kid-lite X-Men etc.. Now I want to see the 3hr 30m version as well...

Best price I've seen yet.

I'm waiting for the 'Ultimate Ed' (and for it to drop below £10).
I have all the time in the world. ;)

Loved the movie, hated the ending!

The U.S version has something called Maximum Movie mode, like directors commentary, but it uses split screens to show footage from the making of the movie. This isn't in the Uk directors cut or the Ultimate Edition which I ordered from the States, but it looks cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFfzMjKRQk8

does this version have the additional scene with the old night owl and the knot gang?

Never heard of the comics but liked the film, although it was a little too slow in places and this a long watch so not exactly a "light" film you can just jump into.

Yes, plus more scenes from the comic that were cut

Not sure if the Ultimate Edition is coming to the UK, I suspect it will do by Christmas
