Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the 'Doomsday Clock' - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight.

When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...But who is watching the Watchmen?

OK here is an update for everyone.

I ordered my copy of "Watchmen - Directors Cut" from Amazon.com on the 15th July 2009. The actual Blu-Ray was to be released on the 21 July 2009, on the 21st July 2009 I got an email from Amazon.com telling me my order had been shipped and would be with me between August 14, 2009 - September 3, 2009 based on my shipping method. Well it actually turned up today 29th July 2009, glad I chose the slowest cheapest shipping method as they seem to usually get here quick anyway, in the end it only took 8 days to arrive.

The Blu-Ray comes in a 3D slip case with the actual Blu-Ray box inside that, when you open it up you will see that the Blu-Ray box contains 3 discs, the film is on the first Blu-Ray, The special Features are on the second Blu-Ray while a digital copy of the movie is on a DVD.

I have tried the Blu-Ray movie and it worked a treat with no problems at all on my UK PS3.

Not really stolen, as I ordered mine weeks ago from Amazon.com and have it now, and it only took 8 days using the cheapest postage method.

Just read the post above, or my original post from over a month ago HERE.:whistling:

Eh? The UK isn't getting the directors cut? Aren't they supposed to be doing a super-extended-mega-brill version of the film which includes the directors cut with the Black freighter footage too?

** answering my own question, can see in one of the pics above an ad for the Ultimate Collectors Edition where it states the BF is 'woven into' the directors cut. But if we're not getting the directors cut it's highly unlikely we'd get the Ultimate Collectors Edition!

No 100% confirmed, as the movie has a different distributors in the UK and US

UK - Paramount
US - Warner Bros.

And at the moment only WB have the rights to the Director's Cut, so they're holding back on a new UK release (Collectors Edition) until distribution rights are sorted.

digital copy IS region locked tho!

If you select the "Windows Media Player" version and select "USA" as the region, it converts it okay and you can then watch the digital version on your PC at your leisure (the iTunes version is definitely region-locked though).

It's easy peasy to create a US iTunes account though, google it and you'll see.

then its just a case of flicking between US and UK accounts as and when neccessary.

Or just order it from PlayUSA for pennies more and get it delivered day after next.

Excellent adaptation. Not sure why this is a hot deal though. Evidently, not many other people are either.

Excellent adaptation.

Just a shame about the end of the film... made no sense whatsoever compared to the graphic novel.... If you think about, the change defeats the whole purpose of what happened in the graphic novel and why they did what they did (don't want to put any spoilers).

I think it still served the same purpose and still made sense. Would have been better for the fans if it had stayed faithful to the novel, but it would have alienated unfamiliar audiences even more than the movie already inevitably does .

Anywhere doing the DC + PS3 games edition cheaply and customs proof?
