The cheapest online at the moment if I'm not mistaken! Buy it after seeing the film though ;)

Why after seeing the film?
#2
Because otherwise you'll realise how much they left out of the film version. Also, why has this been expired? This is the cheapest price it's been posted at here so far, and it's not a duplicate deal!
#3
IDK, probably because the link doesn't work. I actually thought they did a good job with the film. You should read the book first though so that the plot isn't spoiled by a 2 1/2 hour movie.

Fixed the link, Cheers Pom!

I agree, although I haven't seen the film yet (read the graphic novel years ago, rereading now) the only really terrible reviews I have heard where from those who had no idea what to expect, got completely confused and were generally dissapointed the film wasn't X-men.

Meh.

Sure thing.

The movie was really complex and weird. I'd imagine the GN makes a lot more sense than the movie did.

idiot. Serious idiot. What a comment.

If you have the funds, I would spring for the hardcover edition - £14.99 @ Amazon (best price currently) - the quality of paper and print is so much better. Well worth the extra expense imho.

As with most adaptations (Harry Potter, LOTR etc) you're usually better off reading the book before watching the film as the books are in most cases more enjoyable.
If a book is to be enjoyed as much as possible it's usually better doing so fresh, without having 95% of the plot/twists etc spoilt by the (usually) inferior film. (Not to imply this particular film is lame, just a generalisation with most adaptations!)
Just my 2 cents! Great price, heat added

It does indeed, although it's still complex and weird. :) The film makes a lot more sense after reading the graphic novel too.

oooh, good spot zeedee

Totally worth going for this one over the paperback, if you can afford the extra few quid. This book is a keeper.

If you don't fancy the book then try the motion comic book.

'Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic Book' is the graphic novel but animated (not slick Pixar type animation, more like Captain Pugwash! but in the layout and style of the original novel)

Pretty cheap at Amazon, particularly as you get twelve 25 minutes episodes.
See amazon page here

I've just finished watching it, much better than the film, which I also enjoyed.

Bought this about 6 months ago in prep. for the film. The best graphic novel I have ever read. Superb. So many different plots going on at the same time.

If anything you should read the GN first, it's better than the film.
Seeing the film first spoils the plot, and you'd miss most of the subtle references to the comic if you haven't read it beforehand.

Nice one Robston.

Seconded - the motion comic looks awesome - have just ordered a copy from Amazon - repped you for the tip Robston.

Amazon.com has a slightly longer preview clip here - it looks, and sounds great - love Rorschach's changing mask.:-D

Whats the differance between the motion comic and the book?

Whats the differance between the motion comic and the book?

The storyline is obviously the same and the artwork is identical. Apparently (having not read the GN) only a few lines have been cut for the TV series otherwise it's as close to the book as you'll ever see. If the film was 80-85% close to the book then this is more like 99%. Think of it as an animated audio book, as there is only one narrator for all the characters.

Hope this helps.

The motion comic is like an audio book, with Dave Gibbons original art being used in still and limited animated form, along with some cool background music.........a few scenes are missing from the motion comic, along with the between chapter inserts, but it seems to be a pretty true take on the GN. I would think of it as a companion piece, rather than an alternative to the novel.

Have a look here:

Looks great to me, but I can see how it would not be everyone's cup of tea. For once, the UK DVD release is cheaper than the US release as well

EDIT: Looks like you got in before me Robston...........;-)

If you paid for postage then you may have ordered it from a marketplace seller and not Amazon directly. Unless you didn't change your postage options to free delivery at checkout. I'd check it out and cancel/re-order
