Hang on.....i've got that camera but it's a Fuji! Good deal though. I paid £99 for it a while back in Jessops.

If this camera would run on AA batteries it would be a good buy, but proprietor batteries is a no from me. Price is ok, tho.

I was initially interested in this for beach/pool etc, but after reading some of the reviews on Amazon about picture quality and focus issues, even at this price, I'll give it a miss. Although, it is the cheapest price by a good £20-30, so good spot OP

my daughter has a fuji waterproof and i have an olympus(the one in the ad shockproof etc dunno model number)...it knocks spots off mine for clarity

mju 790 is mine

pet200 whats wrong with li-on batteries? mine lasts ages and theye cheap now to buy so we have about 5 between us...AAs lasted in my old cam maybe 50shots..

"The waterproof sealing material is replaceable at cost.
THE MATERIAL SHOULD BE REPLACED ONCE A YEAR TO MAINTAIN THE CAMERA'S WATER RESISTANCE"

Thanks, I've been after this camera for a while and so I've gone for it. You also get free delivery and 590 boots points worth £5.90 so a good price for the camera. I know the review aren't great but I have seen pictures this camera has taken and they are good enough for my needs. Thanks heat added!

Why the downer on them? I assume this uses lithium-ion cells, which have a higher energy density than AA cells and you're hardly going to take enough pictures with this camera between charges to worry about running out of batteries - you try changing them underwater!
#11
Good price for a fully waterproof camera. I once looked up the price of the official waterpoof case for one of my fuji point and shoots and it was £160! I was more expensive than the camera itself!

I want a camera which is ready to take photographs on the spot. I don't want to have to recharge a battery first. or prepare for a photo session in advance. I went into town the other day and forgot my spare battery. I had to return home to get it. If my camera had used AA batteries I could have gone to the next corner shop and buy some. This is why I will never buy a camera which doesn't use AA type batteries.

BTW Fuji and Pentax have realised this and have put AA batteries back into the HS10 (fuji) and Pentax in the K-X.

But if you want a camera that is ready to take pictures on the spot without having to charge a battery isn't it more inconvenient to have to make sure you have some new batteries that you have to pay extra for? Most camera batteries only take a short time to charge so easy peasy.
My digital camera lasted over a week using it every day without a charge.

That's a decent price for any little snapshot camera. Add Fuji and it's better, add waterproof and it's better still, add a Li-ion battery and charger in the box and it's a fabulous deal!

Ignore PET2000 (he thinks the world is still flat and seems to 'forget' a lot). No, it's not a camera nerd's camera, it's a VERY practical point and shoot snapshot cam fror your hols at a remarkably low price.

Li-on is the way forward for cameras, My Fuji F10 will do 500 shots, whereas my old AA camera would do maybe 5% of that before going flat.

As for the deal, hot.

I got this camera for taking for a trip to the red sea a few weeks ago. It is a good, basic camera which is good for snorkelling and taking places where you don't want to take a better more expensive camera (including the desert). The video function is fun underwater and unless you are looking for pro shots this camera is fine for recording your memories.

Battery lasted a couple of days which is fine (comes with the charger included). I would recommend the wrist strap as the camera does not float on its own. I also got the protective cover so it could be taken anywhere.

So I think for most people the camera is a real bargin for holiday pics. Not the best camera you will ever own but for this price it is a good choice.

That's because they are huge cameras which can take huge unwieldy batteries!

There you can check out photos posted by z33 owners, picture quality looks fine to me.
I caved in this morning and bought one, far cheaper than waterproofing my other cameras.

I have ordered one. Shame it is only the blue one that is on offer.
Just what I was after for our trip to Discovery Cove in Orlando :)

A photographer I know used this little trick.

Stretch a clear condom over any camera, tie a knot in the end. Pull another one over and tie that one off too.

Need to make sure it isn't a coloured / lubed / ribbed variety though.
#26
I was thinking of a camera like this for my Orlando trip, ended up paying £95 for the new Kodak Playsport 1080 HD handheld video recorder which does 5mp stills as well, no flash but will be ok for pool stuff and water slides.

As for a condom over a camera, you might get some funny looks in the kids pools

really wanted one of these after my dd lost my Finepix in India a couple of weeks ago, I thought I would replace it with the waterproof one but stock all gone on website. Will try in store tomorrow - thanks for this.
#28
its instore as well. went to my local Boots they have some in stock with the same price.
#29
Saw these in the Merry Hill store this weekend.

got the last one in Boots today!! mind you the woman in front of me won £10 of points in the machine which took the edge off my excitement of finding the camera .....:|

Managed to get one at the Piccadilly Circus branch today. It was the fifth branch I tried. The assistant at the Bond St store said they hadn't sold one in 6 months, and suddenly they went like hot cakes. Wonder why :whistling:

Still 3 in stock at Piccadilly Circus, but obviously the bonus points deal is over now.

Just noticed that myself

Cheers Winchman,

just picked one up from Boots in Bridgend.....think there were a few more in the locked cupboard below the camera display.

For £60 it's gotta be worth a go for a waterproof snapper. I have a Panasonic Lumix for high res photo's, but can take this down the beach, snorkeling and skiing without any worries.
I was watching one on ebay for £70 so this is a great deal.

Thanks

*update*

This was listed as £169 in the Boots catalogue.....gotta say it's definately not worth that. After a quick play it seems clunky and not great for any shots with variable backlight. The menu system is fairly slow and is the sort of thing you'd get on digital camera's a few years back. However, at £59 I think it just about does the job well enough. I'll be testing the wet bit in the Caribbean next week to see if it can impress after initially dissapointing results. I've just picked up a spare battery for £1.89 on E*ay, as the charger is a bit of a lump for such a small camera.

Again though for £59 it's a good deal.

got one online today... bargain just need to buy the silicone case now as I know my lad will drop this!
#37
saw the silicone case in Boots today - it is £9.99.
#38

had the last ones from gallowtree gate earlier today, non at fosse park..

Saw this on QVC last year when it was full price and it has the potential for good shots if you keep a steady hand as the shutter needs some pressing. I've got a Limux FX35 so I only plan to use this for water shots as throw away ones are a tenner a go.

I got a case for it from this deal as its only £2.25 http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/672100/lowepro-apex-10aw-digital-camera-po , then I got a silicone as well online from Bristol Camaras at £7.49. Battery from 7 day shop at £3.49 and a waterproof Samsung 4gb card (in case it all goes wrong) for only a tenner.
