Savastore.com was purchased by Globally Ltd on 7th Fabuary, I emailed them to find out when the 'new' website will go live, they emailed me back to say that the website wil become active sometime within the next few days, and that a huge clearence sale will start to mark the new website launch with many items at half price!

Though I would pst to let people know and to get ready! Bookmark savastore.com. We will the be able to use this thread to post the best deals at the time.

Hope this helps

Doesnt look like there will be any sale - the new owners seem to be the same owners that went into administration. Savastore has closed, Redten has stopped accepting new orders & Timeuk.com is still up and running, but I would advise people not to place any orders with them for now.

It'll be interesting to see if any of the already very competitive laptop prices are reduced?

Thanks for the info Bryan

Any idea who owns them now as watford electronics also own/owned redten my internet provider. Does anybody know what the situation is with this?

Globally according to the liquidators has not bought the stock !

Hi,

Just my luck I've got two RMA'd items that need to be returned to Savastore.com for refund :(.

Never did like the level of customer service offered by this company however gave them the benefit of the doubt whilst ordering two DVB-T Receivers that weren't the cheapest on the market and both of them were d.o.a. Trying to get an RMA number out of them was a complete and utter nightmare now they've gone out of business :(.

Good luck to anyone else who is in the same situation as I am regarding RMA'd items.

I have an e-mail waiting for reply about a dvd player that has gone boom after 5 months, so I'll see what happens there too.

Sorry to give the bad news but redten hasnt been bought out yet.

From adslguide:

Redten's parent company went into administration and has now been bought by Globally Ltd, however Redten wasn't part of the buy out and now stands as its own legal entity.

'Apparently those already up and running with the broadband service are not affected. The concern now is that people who have the service seem to only have two options if Redten Communications ceases to trade, and that is return the PC or pay the residual value of the PC'

The redten webiste has run out of pc's and is no longer allowing new sign ups.

Seems that Globally has been created just days before by Watford went in to administration, were they lying to me when they said they would be re-opening the site?

I would advise no-one buy anything from timeuk.com - it still seems to be working and accepting orders, but this company is also Watford.

Very very dodgy! Goodwill bought for a token sum by a company registered at the same address!
#10
Good I made this thread to let people know about the situation now, even if it isnt a sale, which according to Globally it will be!

Bryan

Hmmmm.... Globally are registered at exactly the same address as Watford Electronics/Savastore.com. Are companies that are in administration allowed to setup a new company literally days prior to annoucing that they've gone into administration owing suppliers vast sums of money and buy themselves out?.

Is there any come-back with credit card companies for RMA'd items that arrived d.o.a.?. Guess they need to have cost in excess of £100.00 though.

Good post Bryan.

It looks like the information I was given was incorrect, just called Savastore and there is an automated message - 'Savastore, A division of Watford Electronics has ceased trading, we are currently awaiting details of an aquisition by Globally Ltd and will update this line with a message to update, please call back later'!

Doesnt look like there will be a sale after all! We can use this thread as an information post now! (Now rooming the net trying to find more info - lol). The stupid thing is I bought a wireless adapter off these guys a few days ago, hope I will get it, or my money back, but doesnt look that way!

Good info, voted hot.
Blasted crafty companies, probably just gone bankrupt to default on loans in company's name, end up with same directors at the same place but with a new name & a clean slate :( Grrrr...

If they used a credit card then they should be able to claim from the credit card they used in around 3 months,if not then i dont know where they stand (maybe someone else here can advise you further).

Just to let you know I work in the IT news industry, so here is a bit of background on this.

Savastore owners get in trouble after insurance liability is pulled. Instead of going with the support of the banks they executed the latest legal loophole. They have basically put savastore in administration, along with all the stock and the credit lines. They 'reopened' at the same location, after buying basic assests but not the stock.

Globally have no stock from Watford, if you paid on Credit card you can claim back that way, if you paid on debit card it might be a bit harder to get your money back.

They have done exactly what Granville did with Time, you could say its a copycat as they actually own the Time name!

Aghh! I rang them on Monday to try to return an Ipod 2GB Nano (£66.12 recommended on here!). I bought a clearance one as a present but got sent a B+ one and the box was in a real state (with a big white B+ sticker on it) and it didn't come with the manual or an itunes disc, earbuds or docking adaptor. They did offer me a refund but I said I would wait until today (my husbands birthday) to see what he said, and he doesn't want it, so I went to contact them to ask for my refund only to find they've ceased trading! What can I do now, just cut my losses?

That letter says that payment isn't taken until the items are despatched, so either they'll turn up or they are lying! I know it's not any help but just thought it was interesting that they make a point about not charging until despatch which would appear to be a big lie.

Also if there are any tiscali customers on here, do not buy anything from the rewards store - it goes through savastore - for some reason the tiscali rewards website is still active (This is a site for Tiscali customers to get free gifts once a month, and they have to pay £2.99 P&P). This reward scheme however is is provided by savastore.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I'm with tiscali and will avoid it, but anyone can use the site not just tiscali customers so they should be wary as well.

the site is savapoint.com and it is still up.

This should not be allowed. Won't be buying anything from Globally or whatever they want to call themselves. Loopholes like this no doubt do not do end users any good as trade disties who were owed vast sums of money from Watford/Savastore etc. etc. are going to have absorb the losses and pass them on.

Whilst I'm not a fan of Savapoint they're not associated with Savastore from what I've gathered. Their trading address is completely different to that of Watford/Savastore etc. etc. anyway.

Thats strange, I was sure that the site was bought out ages ago by Watford, I remember reading about it somewhere, they had choosen to keep the brand and associates as a seperate entity but I think it was still under the umbrella of Watford Electronics, see If I can find the article now.

Oh dear, I have been to Watford Electronic store (Luton) a few times and used Savastore, so they've done a swerve have they ... ?!
#29
I would urge you all to stay well away from Savastore. It will probably be the same people at the top after this switchover - if so, thats not good.

Purchased a £667 PC back in 2003. Took months of correspondence and lawyer threats to get a refund on a PC which was returned four times as it was always dead on arrival (in one instance the PC was MISSING the RAM and entire front case was smashed).
#30
I'll write off my QuidCo cashback then and hope nothing goes wrong with what I've bought from them..

tbh.. I didn't rate their customer service either as someone else pointed out
#31
I returned a 2GB sd card (hotdeal) for a refund on the 3rd February and had wondered why I had nor received a refund or any acknowledgement from them. I will have to speak to cc company.
#32
Anyone who has a faulty Item bought from them should contact the manufacturer to try to resolve, they would have been contacted by savastore.com if it had been returned, explain to them about the store going bust and they should help. Hope this helps.

Thought you may find this humourous (emailed out to redten affiliates):

Redten Internet’s 8Mb broadband offer has been temporarily suspended due to the limited availability of free PCs.

We’re currently working to resolve this issue and hope to resume the offer in the next few days. Please bear with us.

Limited availability of free PC's hmmmm I think that might not be entirely accurate...

If by credit card paid phone them for advice. Tell them you didn't get what you ordered.
#38
Thanks, I've just done that although seems there might be a problem as I still have the item in my possession even though the wrong one. I have to ring back in about 5 days to sort it out with the claims department as I can't send it back as don't have a returns number - or can I!

Latest On Redten Internet:

Customers of ISP Redten Internet are still awaiting confirmation of the firm’s new computer partner following the demise of former parent company Watford Electronics last week.

On its website the ISP, which supplies people with free computers when they sign up to a £20 per month broadband contract, continues to say it has run out of “free PC’s”.

It also says as a result of this “the broadband with free PC offer has therefore been temporarily suspended. We are currently working hard to fulfil all existing orders and hope to be in a position to reinstate the offer soon”.

A spokesman for Redten Internet told Computeractive: “We have been in negotiations with a number of potential partners but are unable to provide further information at this point."

Despite being closely linked with Watford Electronics successor Globally Limited, Redten Internet has not confirmed a new computer deal with them, saying: “We will have to see what Globally Limited has to say, before we make a decision."

Watford Electronics entered administration last week, owing almost £8m, after 35 years in the industry.

According to sister title CRN, Redten was created to be Watford Electronics "get-out clause [to help it out of financial trouble], but it didn’t really take off".

Redten offer is now back on. This is a great sign. I signed up at the end Jan broadband activated on due date around 6mbs download compared to 1mbs with Aol. Estimated delivery of pc end Feb. Don't mind that as already have a couple.

All looking promising.
