Great for the insanely paranoid

I'm not paranoid, I'd just like to know should my phone get stolen I can find the person responsible. Not like the police would do it for me, its only a phone.

Plus the amusement factor of having full access to their SIM of course, I'd probably leave it a few days before visiting them :D
Great software, signed up whilst it was a beta, so still free for myself.

Works great on my rooted HTC Magic.
Sounds a good idea but (taken from the website) "To enable WaveSecure to turn on GPS remotely, you will need root access on your phone and have WaveSecure installed as a system application. Note that rooting your phone is both risky and complicated. You may void your warranty or worse end up bricking your phone. Do this at your own risk!"
Great idea and a nice saving. Being android and therefore open source I'm surprised there's not a free equivalent out, but until there is, this is a cracker.
Good deal. I'd get it if it worked on the iPhone.

Sadly, Apple would never approve it, as their own MobileMe service does something similar :|

Heads up people, not long left now... GET IT!
The offer has been extended till the end of March.
Can't get it to back up my SMS - anyone got and ideas?
I've installed it, but then uninstalled it, mainly due to the fear that an attacker might issue the command to wipe my phone whilst it's still in my possession.

I don't like the fact that the PIN to authenticate a wipe text is the same as the PIN used together with your mobile number to access the website. I'd prefer it if there was a separate wipe PIN (or passphrase, better) that only the installed software knows.
Yes i just saw this,im not convinced its all that good any more, im not sure if o2 charge for these calls or not but im not about to take the risk by adding to my bill each month. I hope they get it sorted out soon.

Im with Virgin & they charge . I was never convinced in the first place with this app as the reviews were quite poor but I installed it anyway only to discover it dosnt work with my Pulse Android so it has now been removed.

Free lifetime WaveSecure accounts for Android users till 31 Jan 2010. Download from Market today!

..just downloaded to test & it's reporting my current location at about 6 miles from the house both on the htc phone itself & also via the web server ..uses googlemaps by the way ...interestingly I haven't set foot outside at all the door today ? huh?
Also tested it ... I remote locked it from my pc ( didn't scream as promised) then proceeded to unlock it .
I unlocked it at 1.48pm but but the unlock time was given as 9.48pm..the time-differential may be because the server is located in singapore/india
Have also tried to locate it from the PC,..informed after 4 attempts that I was only allowed 4 location requests a day!
Once the handsets remotely locked all you see when it's switched on is the WaveSecure page asking for the unlock pin

Is this Wave secure service locating the phone via gps or gprs( data) or both
.. surely it would have to be reliant on gps
if a thief has no data subscription / or no credit on their SIM how would gprs work?
and what if the phone is hard reset locally ( a hard reset is possible by pushing buttons in a certain sequence to restore to factory default).....admittedly your precious data would no longer be in the wrong hands but would the Wsecure app installation still prevent the phone from being used at all ?
Can anyone tell me, can I download this and sign up online, then install it in the future when I get an Android phone?

I believe you can as it has features to restore to a different phone if yours gets replaced.
Can anyone tell me, can I download this and sign up online, then install it in the future when I get an Android phone?

Amazing program, thanks for the tip, it located my phone within 1 min
