This is cold I brought this last year for 39.99 from currys. :(

That doesn't make this a cold deal. I'm sure you probably know this already but... sigh, hard drive prices have been a lot higher recently due to the floods in Thailand and, even though they have started to get cheaper, haven't quite reached the pre-flood price levels again. I suspect you probably knew this and are just trying to be a pain. I think you'll struggle to find this (or any other 500GB USB 3.0 portable hard drive) any cheaper right now... thus making it a good deal.

    Oh, and it's "bought".

i just wish they'd improve on the HDD casing design ive had afew of these also the older ones and had to open these up after time and replace harddrive to new enclosure due to over heating problems no ventilation at all for these drives dunno why they don't add some vents to their design of their enclosure even the older mybook range had ventilation grills :| besides the fact this is pretty average price for these this gets a Cold its a good price don't get me wrong for what you get just id advise getting a better enclosure.

The hard drives inside these are "native USB", so you can't take them apart to replace the enclosure or stick them into your laptop. :(

Too bad a suitable adapter is bigger than the laptop and the cost makes an unviable solution:

Hard drive production and supply levels are now in-line or better than they were pre-flood, however now the market has shown that it's willing to pay inflated prices for HDDs, there is no reason for the prices to come down to pre-flood levels.

This is a shame as I wanted to replace my 3.5" HDDs with quieter 1TB 2.5" ones but at current prices it just isn't worth it.

A great price - nice to see some 'normal' prices for HD's these days.
I have it's bigger brother, a 1tb version, and can vouch for the fact that it is quiet. So quiet that you hardly notice it at all.

Yep companies & manufacturers are very happy for the average joe to continue paying these current high prices. Until there is a drastic drop in purchase for people they will keep the prices high.

Hard drive prices are still waaaay off anything I would call reasonable. Really, we should be seeing 2-3TB drives as standard, rather than regressing back to 500GB.
