Not sure why this is more expensive than other My Book drives - still a good price but when you look at what you can get i.e. the 2TB drive that was posted the other day for around £50 then this is expensive in comparison. I've got the Studio edition which I use with my Mac purely for the reason that it has a Firewire 800 port which is incredibly fast in comparison with USB2.

would maybe be worth it of it had FW...

The firewire 1tb model of the MyBook drive is £84 from Amazon and if you plan on using it with a Mac I would advise you go for it as it's so much quicker.

no wonder apple users get a bad name for things being overpriced.
unless i am mistaken (good chance, not too familiar with macs) then this is just a standard my book (48 on amazon) formatted for mac?
14 quid to format my harddrive seems steep if thats the case.

Yeah I'm pretty sure these are just formatted for use with Macs straight out of the box.. Something anyone could do themselves with a quick google search. I bought a Seagate external HD and formatted it for my girlfriend's macbook easily, and I don't have a clue how to use macs at all.
