Here's an approriate question that arose in my work colleagues pub quiz this week.... "which product was granted patent in 1953 after 39 previous attempts?"

Haha I hope your joking

It's not real oil ok for hinges I guess but not anything mechanical. Wrecks bike chains never mind a car engine!

Nail polish remover does that too and is usually cheaper if you ever plan to get it full price for that reason

thats ****

WD-40's formula is a trade secret. The product is not patented in order to avoid completely disclosing its ingredients !

after the 40th attempt he got the formula right !

AGREED. I once got into an argument at a bike show with a Booth Babe in the WD40 stand when she claimed it was 'Suitable'......

Not my proudest moment really :P. GT85 is wheres its at folks, wiggle may claim otherwise but most bike shops sell it. Why, it can be wiped off a chain easily and it takes the dirt with it so if you are a real bike nerd and clean your bike after every ride its ace...

GT85 is very unsuitable if you never touch your bike apart from an occasional spitwipe clean. For that you want Finish Line Winter Lube, or something similar and juicy for your chain.. It will look like grim horror, but prevents wear and rust pretty well.
