Weber are best charcoal BBQ's- that is why the professionals such as BBQ Pit Boys (see Youtube for some great vBBQ recipes) use them. Mine is awesome- Beer can chicken, slow cooked ribs etc. Make sure you cook indirectly (coals to one side and food not directly over coals) always with the lid on.
This is a good price, but this is the compact version and unless you re just cooking for two people you want the full size version. Even though it is only a few inches more in circumference it actually means circa 50% more cooking room. Also, the lid on the larger version is higher, so you can get a beer can chicken on which you would struggle with this. If you wait a few more weeks, last year Sainsbury and others were selling the full size version at half price- about fifty quid- well worth it, even at full price.

Not moving for a few weeks yet so might hold off until then, cheers for the advice. Guess there might be a lot of barbecue stock to clear at the end of summer, I will keep an eye out.

My Weber has lasted 10 years. It is the large one. I cook my christmas dinner in it when at home. The cold weather means the cooking temp is low and so 5 hours later the meat is so tender and succulent. I have had goose, duck, lamb, beef and turkey. All great Xmas feasts. Get a full size one as a barbecued roast is to die for.
Heat added. (though go for the full size one later in the year)

Have to agree with the above, whole roast chicken on the weber is to die for.

My local B&Q had the 57cm model for £69 which I snapped up. Another guy got the last one on display. They had the 47cm too as described by the OP. Hope this helps someone.....
