Was looking around for a weed burner and all those cheap one pretty often get faulty fast so to avoid disappointment wanted one with warranty. Aldi offers one with 36 months warranty at 13.99 with one 336g gas bottle (burns up to 50mins). The cheapest on ebay are about 1-2 quid cheaper without gas as well as with no warranty so looks alright for me. That one is also slightly longer (970mm).

Need to get rid of weeds from my driveway and paving without using chemicals. Also good for lighting BBQ.

In-store only.

What happened to pulling out weeds for free?

Bought one of these last year. Only burns weeds that are already dead so not much point really. Works fine if all you want to burn is dry stuff.

Must admit they are pretty useless

You're only supposed to run the flame over the weed for a few seconds. Not burn it until it's completely charred. This causes the plant to try to repair itself by taking on more water, but it can't so dies all the way down to the root.
However I have one of these and it is pretty useless, plus any dry material near the weed will catch. So I went back to buying glycophosphate which does an amazing job. Get 5 litres of concentrate for about £30, it will make up over 600 litres of weed killer. Perfect for a knapsack sprayer but not so great for the environment. oO

Not so bad for annual weeds, although very very slow as it needs much more heating than you suggest; but for perennial weeds unless you just about totally "cook" the root, which is usually not easy to do they pop back up in a matter of days or weeks. I only use mine on paths where I don't want to use salt which is where I don't want it to leach elsewhere. Generally I don't use weedkiller unless I really don't have an alternative

I won't bother to buy a new one if mine conks out.

Do notice the length of the weed wand you are looking at. Some are so short you may find yourself bent slightly over while using it. Then if you already have a bad back....

Just used it for about 20 mins on the paving and works fine, no problems at all and my moss is burnt 8) plus all dog hairs are gone from between the blocks :p

just use salt and boiling water ;)

What you want is a Sheen X300.
Significant investment compared to gas wands but can clear large areas quickly and great fun.

It's not the size of your weed wand that matters it's how you use it.

Household bleach, the thick stuff

Great on dandelions coming through flags

Nasty toxic stuff to pets and kids, plus walked into the house is a great way to end up with spotted carpets! About a teaspoon of salt is far safer and works perfectly.
