  Lol, Yep converting avi/xvid/divx to WMV makes pretty large files, soon fills up a 40GB hard drive. It seems to have also screwed up the drive and now the Xbox won't recognise the WMV files after I reformatted it. Probably will work out a fix, but need more storage and this is a good excuse to buy a new storage device.
  What software do you use to convert to WMV files out of interest?

  No chance. Not unless you get it modified, which will screw your warranty and possibly cause problems with XBox Live.

  Latest review on there says it works ok with an iBook. I might take a chance and order this and see if it works with my Powerbook. The price is pretty tempting for a portable drive..

  I use River Past Video Cleaner, which I found on the net( cough, cough). Works well but takes ages and doubles the size of the file. If you use it crank the encoding to max quality to get best results. Think I need to get a Quad core for all the encoding I do. :)

  i dont think you need to recode the files for xbox 360 you can transcode them in real time. Think there are a few ways of doing this but here is one as a suggestion.

  I got one of these drives as a present from my Mum & Dad, and I think they are wicked.
  
  Unlike my other Bulky 160GB USB this one is powered from the USB port so no need to carry around that bulky power brick anymore.
  
  I use mine for taking project work home, holding video files & for portable apps.
  
  You can also boot to them.
