Fantastic bargain!!
Pack up your office files and take them home. Carry thousands of songs or pictures. These drives are simple to use, light and easy to carry, and require no power adapter - they are powered directly through the USB cable.
Installation is a snap because you don't really "install" this drive; you just plug it in and it's ready to use. There is no CD to install; the included software loads from the drive the first time you plug it in. Powered by the USB bus, so no separate power supply needed.

This ultra-portable drive fits easily in your pocket or purse, weighs only a few ounces and holds tons of valuable data.

Tempted to use some vouchers I've got, though 2mb buffer and 5400rpm make me hesitate

Cheers for posting, that is good price

This is a laptop drive so whilst not as fast as a 7200 rpm drive, it should be able to run off your USB port without requiring an additional Power Supply AFAIK.

A friend has this and I think he said it ran at about 20MB/s versus the 30MB/s which I think is the max you can get off a 7200 rpm drive due to USB2's limitations.

Extremely good for using in conjunction with an xbox 360 as you can load it with wmv-hd movies and the unit will self-power from the 360's USB ports, so no need for an extra power lead etc.

^yeah this works great with my Xbox 360, EEE and my desktop. Great price too, although that Lacie 500GB drive is only £10 more.

Good price!

£82.50 for the 250GB version from Amazon if you need bigger. I think the 250GB is slightly better value for money (GB/£).

This is a cracking price. The drive in white is a few quid more at 59.99 if you need it to match.

I read a review on play.com from somebody that has bought one and has a laptop - mentions that some laptops might have an issue drawing power from the usb port, but can be rectified using a dual usb cable such as the one found here....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-USB-Cable-Dual-Power/dp/B000FKP7XA/ref=pd_sim_w_h_?ie=UTF8&qid=1200489757&sr=8-1

hope this helps.

Ive ordered the unit and the cable, so will post an update once it arrives.

does anybody know whether there would be any difference in performance between watching an avi file (either on PC or xbox 360) using this drive and watching same file directly from a quality branded usb stick.??

cheers in advance.

true that however as the lacie is considerably larger and will prolly require AC power? and not as portable ... form v function i guess ...if you are chucking it in a laptop bag or rucksack then the lacie's not bad - i guess,

Got this for £51 from Amazon a couple of months ago.

A great drive. I have used it with my macbook, pc, 360 and PS3 with absolutely no problems at all.

I was using the 120GB WD drive for this. Then I got my wireless network working properly. Now streaming Xvid and divx from my PC to Xbox no problems. Even HD content streams well. :)

i purchased 250GB version for about 79 £ and got refund for reduction in price from Amazon. Excellent hard drive. Argos were doing this two weeks back for 49£ (yes, WD 2.5 inch 160 gb drive)

Any idea on whether this should be formatted as FAT32 or NTFS to be correctly read on both PC and XBOX60?

I was told FAT32 yesterday, which i did then loaded some movies onto it. Xbox is saying no movies are present:evil:
