Pack up your office files and take them home. Carry thousands of songs or pictures. These drives are simple to use, light and easy to carry, and require no power adapter - they are powered directly through the USB cable.Installation is a snap because you don't really "install" this drive; you just plug it in and it's ready to use. There is no CD to install; the included software loads from the drive the first time you plug it in. Powered by the USB bus, so no separate power supply needed. This ultra-portable drive fits easily in your pocket or purse, weighs only a few ounces and holds tons of valuable data.

High-performance portable storage for your Mac and PC. Light andrugged, it’s easy to carry and no external power adapter isneeded. Comes with sync & encryption and Google software. WDXMS1600TE
4-6 week delivery though...
Its tiny .... Thanks ray, good price
Thanks Sin_of_nature :) So for about an extra £20 you get 40Gb more space, which is almost the same cost per Gb.
cant decide whether to get the WD My Book instead, as I don't need it to be super small ... but then again I don't like the idea of taking power cables with you :)
rayman: "120Gb drive at around £65"

Not sure where you got £65 from... the 120gb drive is £57.95 on Amazon.co.uk, but like you say they work out to approx. around the same price per gb

These are great little devices - must resist the urge not to buy another one :)
Thanks kowalski :) I put in the price I paid for mine, which at £65 was a bargain. I'll correct the original post to suit ;-)

the prices on these things have been dropping at an incredible rate... always good :) (plus the 30-day Amazon price promise should come in handy for some people)
will this work in a PS3?
Whichever drive you go for it's a great deal. OEM drives are around the same price* (perhaps £5 less) but you're getting an external enclosure (not to mention it's a retail box).

*though the Hitachis from SVP have 8MB cache.
I've ordered the 120GB one to use with my PS3, it'll supplement the standard 60GB HDD nicely.

Telly, it should work fine. Just note that in order for the PS3 to use it the drive needs to be formatted using FAT32 which is a bit of a pest in Windows XP because it uses NTFS. So in order to get round the problem you can follow this:

The 2.5" Lacie 160gb pocket drives at £74.99 at eBuyer...
Just to confirm with people that the 120GB works fine as an external USB device with the PS3 so this 160GB should be OK as well.

The drives come pre-formatted as FAT32 (PS3-ready) with some PC backup utility software which may or may not be required
Just let u know the price of the 120GB one has dropped to 55 quid.:-D

now £78.94 delivered ;-)
Remember the same company do My Books which generally are larger (not massive) and require external power. But you do get twice the storage for the same price compared to the passport range. Available at most places like Amazon.
Great price

I ordered a Fujitsu 120GB HandyDrive the other week though ... typical

I wish they would hurry up and start making laptops with flash memory. With these type of drives available, someone who needs that sort of portable memory can easily get it at a low price.
