What you get is this :)

very cheap
thanks edi
Thank you edi
Nice find edi :) Paid about this much for 80Gb a year ago...
Excellent find. This is exactly what I have been looking for. How do I leave karma?

Could I also ask, does anybody know if this can be ran alongside a desktop on a permenent basis as in costantly powered up?
The description on this appears wrong. It gives the spec of the WD Netcenter models that incorporate a Ethernet socket to enable them to be used as a network drive - but the specs only list a USB 2.0 socket. Previous buyer reviews don't mention the Network capabilty either.

I think the descriptions have been mixed up. I'm looking for a Network HD to use with my PC and Xbox through an RJ45 connection and I nearly bought this one in error.
it's not edi's fault they mixed the descriptions...

I'm not blaming EDI -Its Amazon's mistake, I'm just trying to help people avoid accidentally ordering the wrong drive.
I think the description is incorrect [not edi's fault no].

This is the NetCentre box, clearly marked:

The Amazon one does look like the usual USB2 drive...

If you're just looking to have it plugged into your USB port constantly on, it should be fine...

Bah, if It had firewire connector, it'd be close to a winner as Mac installation speeds are quick!
Thanks everyone. Sorry, just notice the issue here.

Honestly, I dont know much on the tech side of things. Thanks for clarifying Ray
It's still a good price for 160Gb Western Digital USB2 :)
Grabbed one. Went through Nectar and got 88 points, worth 44p. Better than nothing :)
I bought this drive over a year ago for about £100. Since then i have had no problems with it. it has been used on a regular basis and is still very quiet.

I would not purchase any other make over western digital as i am so pleased with this drive.
I take it these drives are unsultable for games?
Thanks for the feedback chrisapplegate :) I recommend Western Digital drives also ;)

quackstar84 This drive is basically a plug and play storage device. If installing games, they would be better on your computers internal hard drive.

Thanks for this Hard Drive. I purchased one yesterday for my daughter, who has an Acer Laptop from Tesco for £299 which only has a 40Gb Hard Drive......Great machine but this external Hard Drive will give her all the storage she will need.
I bought a Lacie 200 GB Hard Drive a year back and paid £160 for it......mind you still going strong and I leave it on all the time. This comes with the added bonus of free shipping.......a real Bargain.
