I've worked with Computers most of my life, and found this site last month .... It saved me nearly £200 in one month .... so being a being a big believer in Karma ... I'm deciding to give something back .... as this is my 1st post I've most likely made some huge schoolboy errors ... so please tell me if you spot any ... I hope to be posting much more of this type of stuff... ... ( sadly i'm all about the IT and electronics, so you won't see me posting about pita bread !! )

Where have you been all these years? Only found Ebuyer a month ago - WOW. For IT hardware they are one of the big few that consistantly has great prices and good service. Along with Micro Direct, Overclockers UK, Novatech, Aria and of course Scan, they are one of my fav haunts. Be careful with posting lots from just Ebuyer and no one else as you may get tagged as an employee advertising the site.

No big errors, just the price above the picture is a few p out.

I read it that the OP had only found HUKD recently, but I could be wrong.

Dabs and Insight used to be great for prices years ago but they just don't compete any more, and like you showing my age :whistling:

you mean you used to buy from dabs...... when they were good!.

their name is not all that has changed over the years, their cust service has gone down the toilet.

but still, as for your deal... hot!.

Does this one require external power (in addition to the USB connection?)
#11
More than likely this particular one will be mains powered.

PS. I remember dabs when they were just a counter in front of a load of boxes. I bought my first printer from there in 1993 - even picked it up from Prestwich where they were at the time. Not bought anything from them for years though - it's a completely different outfit these days.

sureoly buying the samsunbg 1.5tb here and banging it in an enclosure is better value?
#13
I bought one of these from Amazon last month for less, with free postage. Voted cold.
Great product though, I'm using it with a WDTV player and after being switched on for a few hours (spinning while watching films) its still cold to the touch - not many external drives can boast that!

Not sure you could match the quality of this with an enclosure, it really is a well built bit of kit.

Also voting cold as Amazon is cheaper. Sorry.

eh? It's the same price on Amazon.

I thought it was 3 pence cheaper.

Now that all the 1tb drives are around the £70 quid mark, which is best?

This one, or

The Buffalo Drivestation £69 @ Amazon or,

The Verbatim £72 @ Cdiscount (with a little bit of Quidco off that too.)

I only need one to archive my music and photos onto.

got one already so bagged another - good find thanks

Dude where have you been hiding... in a cave! lol
Ebuyer are fantastic, Iv'e ordered loads and loads of stuff from them over the years. There after sales service has improved nicely over the years, not to say they were ever so bad but they are brilliant now!

back to the hard drive... I bought the 640GB (http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/417857/western-digital-dd3-5-640-el-uk-640) and am happy with it, the only thing lacking is a power switch on the case which is a bit disappointing as I find myself having to switch it off at the mains instead which is a pain as I have to crawl under my desk!

I have this drive, first day I had it I tripped on the usb lead and pulled it off the top of my tower case! It still works 6 months on - I think the massive rubber bumpers on each end of the drive really helped save it.
Only downer for me is the lack of an on/off power switch.
