Went to buy this last week from Play (£79.99) a offer which i found here on Ukhotdeals. It was a pre-order and was supposed to be released on Monday however it never arrived and after a phone call Play told be there is no stock and they are not getting any.

I stumbled on the same drive in Pcworld for a fiver less you can get it online or reserve and pick up. If you get it online its a extra £4.84 delivery. The drive is extremely quiet i cannot here a thing from it. There is also 2% quidco.

Direct link here, QuidCo here.

Yes, I picked this one up when it was £68-ish in preference to the Essentials at Comet for a fiver less. It is more solidly built with a slightly more robust power pack. Quiet enough in use and it hasn't burnt my house down.

Is this better than the tesco iomega one I have?

Still worried about the iomega reliability scares....
#4
Yes, as you already stated the reliability issues on the Iomega make it a no no for me. This is a good solid drive and imo a decent price.

Voted Cold, I picked a Western Digital Mybook (Nicer than the basic model here)1TB for £63 from comet last month, relise that HDD have risen a bit lately so my advice is to wait for a better deal.

That would be the one I passed over because of reliability issues even more profound than Seagate's. Not worth saving the fiver to risk combusting power supplies. :whistling:

Liverpool, Stockport, St.Helens, Basildon after a 1 min check im sure there is a lot more. There is loads just like always they do not have them in everywhere. Also noticed you cannot get them online now sold out.
#11
pretty limited availability really.
#12
Yeah thats great. You can provide a list of wheres in stock as you have checked everywhere. Cheers
#13
just wondering - is this on firewire or usb 2.0?
#14
has to be USB, you'll be paying premium for Firewire nowadays

I have one of these...it seems very solid with big rubber end caps which are very effective at protecting it ...I tripped over the power cable and pulled the whole damn drive off the top of my tower PC, it still seems to work tho, touch wood! Would like an on/off switch though.

Also have one of those £68 Tesco 1tb Iomega ones and that seems OK too but noisier.
