Note thyough that Amazon have it down now as 'usually delivered in 3-5 weeks'. Which makes it pretty pointless I think, if you wanta a hard drive you want it now, if you don't you wait and see what prices do,. However ebuyer have it in stock for the same price

Possibly worth double checking the warranty situation - their technical description doesn't match with the main description ..... :

    Title
Western Digital 3.5 inch 3TB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive WD30EZRX

    and the description .......

    Description
    Technical Details

    3TB capacity
    7200rpm spin speed
    3.5" form factor
    SATA interface
    3yr warranty

    So it may be a 7200 or a 5400 rpm - back in a minute !

Ok - its a 5400 rpm drive and most other retaillers are offering a 2 year warranty on it (there are a couple in the USA which have a 3 year warranty) - deffo worth double checking and/or doing a printout of the description just in case you want them to honour the advertised warranty ;)

    It's a two year warranty:

    http://support.wdc.com/warranty/policy.asp

...unless it's a retail kit (don't think this one is) - WD sneakily cut their warranties by a year at the start of this year - so sneakily that many retailers haven't cottoned on yet either - though still a hell of a lot more reassuring than Seagate's miserable 12 month warranty!

but sometimes i order stuff from amazon and it says 1-2 months and get it a week later,

Definitely a 2 year warranty for OEM (I have a bunch of them sat next to me).

Amazon still report 3 year warranties for the new Samsung HD204UI (now a rebadged Seagate), despite the fact they actually carry a 1 year warranty.

    Paid £50 for a 2TB last year...

I'll wait until 3TB and 4TB reach sub £100. Not good prices at present

Amazon is not the only one playing the, "3 years warranty, what 3 years warranty" game. Others gladly do it too. This is where crookedness masquerading as irresponsibility gets a new life. Scan is a big player in this department. They will just use past sell-by-date information to make a new sale and then pretend that they'd made a mishtake when the fingering gets a little frisky. They will even use the old rope of, "This drive has only a 1 year warranty because it is a grey import", to try eluding responsibility - not in those words, of course, but via in-yer-face honesty of the mind numbing kind - until you tell them that you are about to drop your pants and raise the ante. The only thing absolute about a human, that creature of The Duelling Duality, is that he'll change direction as the wind blows. And you have "people" trusting everything from being chosen to be Zer Few to Zer OhLimpics. Powah to yer gab.

mght be in for a long wait, now that there are only two major drive manufacturers - expect them to compete slowly, at least untl SSD prices start to impinge on the bulk storage market.
