lol yeah, some people just see 320gb, 60 quid and put cold when compared to 1tb, without noticing laptop and desktop etc etc.

No hard feelings, what i found to be with this site.

Considering it's only a tenner more than the 5400 that gets voted hot here so much I think it's a great price.

Tempted to get this for my laptop and chuck the 320 from my laptop into the PS3.

Have some heat to warm this place up a little :)

Thanks :D I was thinking 7200 be power hungry but western digital say the way it works it takes same as 5400 normal laptop drives. and what they say i beleive :p

From what I have read 7200rpm makes very little difference for a PS3, I would personally get the 5400rpm from PLAY for a PS3. This would improve a laptops performance quite a bit though.

Thanks, will have a gander and try and find it on their site
Only have a 40gb harddrive in PS3 and got a message saying less than 500mb free so it's time to upgrade the harddrive. Its pathetic at how big some of the save files are
#13
A decent price for an upgrade but the difference in spin speed is negligible and the Play one can be had for around £47. Worked a treat in my PS3!!

agreed the spin speed in a PS3 makes no difference whatsoever, go for the play.com option and save yourself some cash!!!
#15
AAAAARRRGGHHH! Just bought one from dabs about an hour ago - £73!!!

I wonder if there's time to cancel...

actually - there's only a couple pounds difference if you want it quickly.
#16
Remember that this is an OEM drive, but the Tesco deal is for a cased external one.

Just making the observation in case anyone has missed it ;)

this 800mhz should be fine for your system two 2gb sticks fr 27.98, not bad

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/2GB-DDR2-SO-DIMM-PC2-6400-(800)-200-Pin-Non-ECC-Unbuffered

if you have the AVForums/Hexus free delivery this works out cheaper @ £24.12 for 2x2gb

Seen quite a few people report fitting the 7200rpm drives in a PS3 will make it run noisier and hotter due to the high spin speed making the HDD hotter
#19
seems a good deal to me, i just have to ask because im a total novice with things like this. if i buy it and just put it into my laptop will i have to reinstall windows etc?

Yes.

You could (somehow) backup your original windows installation and files onto an external hardrive, place the new one in, and restore it all. Novice you say..... Hmm.

Check out Acronis True Image Home - it will copy your entire 'old' hard drive onto your new one - and is very simple to use.

You can get the software very cheaply from eBay (beware of illegal unboxed copies tho ;0 )

Nice one! Hot

One on the way ;)

Voted hot, one of the best choice to replace macbook's HDD

Demand seems to have pushed the Scan Infinion RAM up to £16.66 a stick now.

I have two of these in my Vaio having found them to be cheapest last week. I have free delivery with Scan from a previous loophole (exhibition offer which got publicised online!!)

Great deal, i was looking for something decently priced.

Two questions

1) How reliable are these hard drives ? I have a segate in mine right now and its been perfecto touch wood but have heard some hd's are not good at all. Ive had bad experience with Maxtor which has always died on me

2) Will this fit in my Dell D620 ?

Thanks

Reliability should be as good as other drives.

It should fit fine in a D620, mine has a 5,400 RPM version fitted and this is the same physical size/shape.
#27
Thanks xenny.

Ordered one - should be here Monday 16th they dsay. Not had the best experiences with ebuyer but the price is hot hot hot so will take my chances.

Rep++ xenny and OP !

anyone lookin to upgrade ps3 hd its a 10 min operation just be careful with the screws they use to hold hd in caddy very soft and extremely tight take care !
#29
Replaced my 5400 RPM drive in my Macbook Pro with this drive last week. Much faster! :)
#30
For a laptop this is the best mechanical drive you can get afaik. Voted hot, but I am waiting on SSD's to drop in price.

NEARLY cancelled my ebuyer order (was third in queue :p)

Glad I got it when I did at the OP price!!

Yup, edited above but thanks for the very quick clarification.

Even at 65.99, I think this is good when compared to the play.com price.

Detailed review here

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1624/western_digital_scorpio_black_320gb_2_5_7200_rpm_hard_disk/index.html

For those of you who cannot be bothered to read it, final verdict was very very positive.
#37
oops, forgot i posted this. Using the drive now and its great :D thanks for the help with the Ram, decided to go for the slightly more expensive kingston cl4 pc 5300(macbook only takes 5300 and that was faster ram :P )
#38
Looks like quite a few ppl got this recently as it expired this morning. The price automatically goes up when items are bought so quick (same on Amazon ive noticed)

I went for Patriot ram as it was well priced and had excellent reviews everywhere.
#39
Yes ebuyer are really bad for adjusting prices upwards as an item becomes popular.

I had one of these in my basket from a few days ago but was planning on adding other things to the order, then find the price shot up. So I placed the order without the drive, got free delivery on that order and will order the drive on its own when the price comes down and get free delivery on that order.

So by putting the price up ebuyer have just increased their costs as instead of all items sent in one parcel they now will have to send two.

Any idea where the next cheapest place to get this is?
