Thus is one of the quietest 2.5 inch drive that works in PS3, as well as in laptops, I think this deal is pretty good. Its a 5400rpm drive, which means it doesn't take as much energy as 7200rpm ones, while this way it also conserves more energy.

Ideal for anyone who doesn't need a disk enclosure, just the drive itself.

It can store more than 420 divx movies (700mb each), turning your PS3 from a bluray player into a movie centre at merely 50 quid.

same product has been the same price with free delivery on play.com for ages

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3516598/Western-Digital-Scorpio-WD3200BEVT-320GB-2-5-Internal-SATA-Hard-Drive/Product.html

also your description is a bit misleading, a 7200rpm drive uses very very very little more power than a 5400rpm but is quite a lot faster - not that it matters much for the PS3 at all

and amazon dropped the price at the same time like they normally do when play drops their prices.
Also free delivery at amazon too since its over £5.

I have used one of these in my PS3 for 6-9 months. Good price at both Play and Amazon (I see no reason to vote cold just because two places offer the same good deal). Have some heat. In my experience Amazon provides a better customer than play should things go wrong, but Play do deliver faster.

I agree, the main difference is that it will run a couple of degrees hotter is all.

For anybody wanting to see a good comparison of 5400RPM vs. 7200RPM, load times, heat, etc, look here

I ordered one of these from Play on friday to replace the drive in my NC10 netbook.
Went through Quidco & got 25p!
I ordered a cd from Play the week before, that cost £8.97 & Quidco tracked as 36p

Thats because it tracks differently depending on what you buy, Quidco clearly states this :

4% for other products
6% for clothing and accessories
1% for console sales
0.5% for PC and electronics sales
2% for event tickets and digital downloads

I didn't say it wasn't clear that it was so low- But as I spent more than 5 times for the hard drive than I did for the CD, seems daft that the CD tracks as more.

I just bought the 7200rpm drive for my laptop and the performance is very good.

pat? your answering questions with questions. it is daft though but means when someone buys a £1000 pc they dont make £40 instead of 0.5% getting £5.
