My first deal, so don't shout at me!

I've been looking for a small portable drive for ages and just found this one; nice size (12cm x 8cm x1.5cm) 60GB capacity (enough, for a portable drive) and looks a bit like an iPod. Western Digital have a really good name for data drives and this is way cheaper than anywhere else.

Nice drives, I've got a 120GB one - two things to bear in mind:

1) Unless it's changed recently these come with a USB cable that is only 11.5 inches which is ridicuously short.

2) If you so much as look at the drive the beautiful shiny black casing will scratch - you have been warned!

the 120gb isn't much more money, would get that as it is double the size

Fair enough - but am loving the way it's being voted 'Cold' by others, without a reason being given! :whistling:

You lot are scary - perhaps I'll just have to retreat to my usual home, below the parapet. :-(

Voted hot. Yes the 120GB is better value for money (better GB/£ ratio) and doesn't cost a whole lot more relatively speaking, but if you can't afford it then there's not really an argument! Also, some people have no need for an external drive to be so big so they'd be paying more for space they'd never use.

The point is this is a great price if you just need an external drive and you need it cheap. The fact that it's very attractive, reliable and comes with a great warranty is just a bonus.

Well it's the cheapest portable drive I can find.

I've got the 120 gb version and they do scratch if you look at them. But, the Design Go All-In travel pouch is the perfect pouch for it. It even has an inner pouch to store the cable in. I got it from debenahms for £8.99, but it can be bought online too.

No it doesn't mate, not if you're plugging it into your PC or laptop!

BS. They need 2 on my laptop as it actually conforms to USB specs ie 500ma max per port, external 2.5" drives require just under 1A to operate.

So it's 50/50. Might need 2 might not. All depends on the machine.

Thanks Edi - it's the first deal I've posted and proved a lot less complicated to do than I thought!:)

Ok ok, no need to be harsh! All I was going on was from my own experience... I have tried this on 3 PC's and about 10 laptops and none of them needed any extra power or a second usb ports.

Mine arrived this morning, so quite quick for Super Saver delivery. It's very small and tactile and looks great, I'm delighted - going to try out the auto back-up software later; the Crumpler case I ordered (mentioned further up^^^^) is a perfect fit!

Good price for the 60GB.

Decided to go for the 120gb on Ebuyer though they have the 120gb reduced to £51.65 delivered.
