I agree with that to a point, but do you know what drive lies within the Buffalo. At least with the WD you know you are getting a WD which is a comforting thought.

Yeah Wd 640gb drives are 2 platter compared to 750gb ones whch are 3 platter, This means less heat ( Heat kills external drives) ,Higher speed and quieter, i would feel much safer having my data on this than on the Buffalo,

thanks. I'm not up on External HD's but I thought at £47.50 it was a good deal, and WD are a decent brand. :)

Unfortunately some of their power supplies aren't (google it), saying that when the power supply of my WD 640GB drive went after 6 months the online support were quite good at sending out a replacement.

Yes the PSU supplied with these Elements drives are very poor, WD will send a replacement out pretty quickly as you say thoguh.
