Best avoided, as with all WD drives.

10% of reviews the drive failed. Says it all really.

I have 4 WD drives that have all failed, 3 were brand new immediate DOA failures.

I will never use WD ever again.

thats all personal opinion, most find them to be the most reliable

definatly more than:

hitachi,

samsung (although samsung have really caught up recently),

and seagate, although a seagate died last week and it was covered by a 5 year warranty

I have never had any problems with WD drives and would recommend them over any other brand.

All hard drives are about as reliable as each other , with similar failure rates. Choose based on price/speed/noise etc.

I have many seagate drives and never had a fail.

Never had any probs with WD in my PC, 5 yrs old now & still going strong.

"Data Transfer Rate: 300 megabytes_per_second"?
Really?

People should really note that the Western Digital "Green" series is a low speed drive - good for low-noise and power consumption (For example, in a media center), but not very good as an OS/Games hard drive.

For the record, my (about 6 months old) 1.5TB WD green (EARS) actually outperforms my 320GB (couple of years old) WD blue boot drive. Measurably.

So yes, current gen it's probably slow, but I really doubt many would notice. And if you do, well that's what RAID-10 is for... ;)
