If votign cold, please say why??
Reviews are not great.

Good price, but I wouldn't get one.

I will be sticking with Seagate.

Bad if you want to stick it in a NAS device, but apart from that people seem happy with it. Fair do's though!
why bad 4 a nas
why bad 4 a nas

According to the feedback on the amazon page, the firmware on the drive is a bit dodgy and knackers the device really quickly in a NAS. There's more information on the Amazon reviews.
Can the firmware not be updated ?
I've not seen any reviews on there where updated firmware was mentioned... I don't know.
There is effectively a firmware patch you just use wdidle3 (WD DOS util) that sets the inbuilt idle setting of the drive (you only need to run it once). Change it from 5 seconds to 5 minutes and all is good.

There's an ultimate boot cd with wdidle3 on it if you have problems making a bootable disc :- http://www.jzab.de/content/ultimate-boot-cd-wdidle3-util-included

To set the parking to be down after 5 minutes of idling, type
wdidle3 /S300

/S300 = 300 seconds = 5 minutes

I've got two of these running in a HP Proliant Microserver setup as a NAS, I set the timeout to 5 mins and seem great.
BTW, it's expired now - back up to £65. I ordered an extra one myself, just wouldn't trust Samsung with 2TB of data....too many people give Samsungs rave reviews based almost purely on price after only having them for a very short time.
