Looks like a decent drive for storage as need to free up some space on my 750GB WD CAVIAR BLACK, not bad price considering how expensive drives have been lately..

Just worth noting that this is not for laptops, otherwise seems like a sensible deal.

    This is a great deal.

Still twice the price I paid for one a few years back! :P I'm refusing to buy hdd storage until these prices normalize again.

Google "HDD prices". Honestly. If you don't require one *right now* then hold off. Latest articles are saying August for them to normalize. This HDD could go down to as low as £25.

prices are getting better and better.

Little annoyed I paid £57 for the 500GB just 2 weeks ago :(

    Nice find and heat added!

Computerworld - While hard disk drive (HDD) supplies are starting to resurge, inventories will not be back to normal until the third quarter of this year and prices will remain unusually high through 2014, according to market research firms IHS iSuppli and Coughlin Associates.

As a result of flooding in Thailand last year, HDD prices will likely increase 20% to 30% over their average pre-flood prices and remain there through most of 2012

Stock pilers getting rid of old stock thats all "alanfixedit" your in for a long wait :p

as long as people remember that 3.5 = desktop and 2.5 = laptop, there should be no confusion

as for the price.....i no its decent because of the floods but i still cant shake the fact that i bought my 1tb drive for £35
    alanfixedit
That computerworld article from february? Before the march announcements from everywhere else about august?

I'm in for no long wait. Trust me. I don't just look at the most pessimistic thing I can find on the first page of google.
    alanfixedit
And bluepeter11, I'm in the same boat. my 1tb was around £34 delivered... BACK IN 2009.
    M1sterDeeds
Crikey, £34 delivered for 1TB. Literally cheap as (fish and) chips + peas for a large family.

I would literally bite the hand that feeds if they ever come near that price again.

The trend for hard drive prices is now downwards. Question is how fast?
I'm sure the suppliers would love the prices to continue high until 2014.
Me think the market forces will dictate otherwise.
    M1sterDeeds
I don't think I can wait until 2014 for a new hard drive.

The market sets the price, not an overly eager critic that posts a blog or two on google. People require HDD's and are willing to pay this for them, guess what? They won't be getting cheaper for a while.

    What's wrong with OEM?

I just wish Aldi or lidl:) was selling this as they offer a 3 year warranty on most of their electronic product(_;) I feel one year shows a lack of confidence in the product
