To get the triple performance, most people will probably need to get a USB3.0 PCI Card, which adds to the price.

if someone wants 1tb then paying double isn't smart.
if thats their target then by the time they need 2tb they may be able to buy the new 2tb for the price of this one.
and the performance thing only really matters with usb3 machines as said above.

yeah unexpired but afaik noone bothered expiring so dont panic!!!

These drives are not meant to be on all the time.... this is the cause of most of the problems as they have no heat control system in place (it's just a 3.5" encased in plastic with a circuit board adapting it to USB.) The hard drive runs fine for maybe 3 hours or so but I wouldn't risk leaving it longer than that as the heat levels begin to rise above tolerable. I use mine for backups/transfers and occasionally stream HD movies off of it.

mine has been on since i got it, about 2 months ago. no problems for me, i need another one as i want one for my ps3
