Just got the email about this, seems a cracking price. Best I've seen so far anyway. WD has always been reliable for me too. Tempting as my WD Elements 1TB is almost full now.

No excuse not to backup data at these prices.

Any idea what model it carries inside? Oh and I was looking at the WD20EARS so wondered how they compare, I'm know its internal, that's ideally what I'm looking for

Given that this price is cheaper than a bare external Samsung F3 2TB, I am tempted to buy this, take the drive out and stick it internally into my PC. Then I have a spare external USB enclosure to either stick one of my older smaller drives into or flog on Fleebay.

Cracking price.

Don't get that comment really. If it's a 500gb, 1tb or 2tb drive and you're going to fill over 50% full it's going to take some hours, either way you're going to leave it to transfer overnight.
For general use it isn't going to be slower because its 2tb, i get that to fill it up would take a long time, but thats only because its bigger! so you have more space, if you slowly add each day when you get to 500gb you can continue, whereas with a 500gb drive you would have to stop, dont see how buying any usb drive is different from buying any other usb drive.
Its either usb yes or usb no in my opinion, no '2tb over usb is no good'.

Same price at Amazon, and I'd prefer to buy from them than from Ebuyer, given the choice.

ebuyer free delivery for me has 90% of the time has been very fast, amazon 90% very slow.

90% of all statistics are made up. Incidentally, Amazon has free delivery too.

Does anyone know the difference between WD Elements drives and the WD My Book range? I have found the latter very good but come more expensive.

Does anyone know if the drive can be removed easily, as I would like to do the same.

I am guessing it must be a Caviar Eco Green drive, I can't imagine they would put a Caviar Blue or Black in a USB enclosure or produce a drive specifically for a USB enclosure.

If that's the case the only two drives WD produce and sell as internal drives as well are the WD20EADS (2TB 32MB cache) or the WD20EARS(2TB 64MB cache), both 5400 rpm.

?
I was referring to both ebuyer free delivery and amazon free delivery obviously.
After many many items 90% of ebuyer things sent by free delivery come very fast, 90% of amazon items sent by free delivery come very slow, that just my experience. Amazon take ages to pick and package or whatever, whereas ebuyer usualy just send free delivery stuff at the same speed as their fastest stuff, if they can, which for me seems to be 90% of the time.

Cracking deal, but it's a brave man that sticks a 2TB drive in a PC without RAID'ing it! not to mention the glacial disk
access times you'd get. These are ideal for offline backup/home server use and I'd stick to that for them.

Dunno the difference, but I had a My Book die on me as it overheateted so I tend to avoid any WD drives as they all seem to have plastic enclosures that keep the heat in.

It's always the same, some people good experiences and some people bad. I have had a 1TB My book tha has been backwards and forwards on planes and all sorts and it is fine. it has been used in hot countries etc. I have several My Books inc. a My World/NAS that stays switched on and all have been fine.

Thanks, it doesn't really say. I suspect the drives are the same but maybe the casing and included software are the difference.

I want it for a backup disk. I will stick to my 1TB deskstar and 750GB Baracuda for my main disks still. Access time is therefore not an issue, but native SATA would be a lot faster than the USB2 enclosure interface.
