Oh no you didn't!

You bought a "My Passport Essential' - Elements don't come in blue! Pretty much the same thing though

I saw this yesterday in Curry Digital (Glasgow) for £54.99. Meant to post that when i got home. Didn't look like a store specific offer so i would assume it might be nationwide?

So might be worth having a look instore if you happen to be passing one, you might save a fiver. Probably not worth driving somewhere specifically though to potentially save just £5 (petrol, your valubale time etc)

You sure it was the portable USB version for £54.99? They do sell the Desktop version for that price online.

I'm gonna reserve one of the portable ones anyway, so will see when I pick it up later tonight.

The last time this was posted the deal was voted cold because it only has a 1 year warranty (even though the currys web page states it has a 2 year warranty). I still went for one anyhow because I wanted one with a normal 2.5" hard drive in it and a standard usb connector (unlike the WD "My Passport Essential"drives).
So I have printed out the Currys web page which states the 2 year warranty on it so if anything does go wrong with this in the 2 year period I will be bringing it back to them.

Excellent deal, just what I was looking for

Reserved, then walked into Exeter - braving the blizzard

Got to Currys, all shuttered up - sign on the door inside the shutter

"Due to adverse weather conditions, we are running a skeleton staff - please knock if you require service"

Guess that was for earlier in the day, 4:30 was too late...

Then like an Idiot, I gambled all the cash away in the bookies... Curse you Roulette...

FML.

bought mine over the weekend from the solihull branch of pc world. spec is identical, but looks are a bit different to WD's 'Passport' hard drives, but they are essentially the same thing for cheaper!

500gb for that price is pretty good in my book!

Yep, it was the very same one. I know because i was looking for a 500gb portable as an xmas present for someone, and this is one of the models i considered buying.

Oh well, an extra £5 saving would have been nice.
Picked it up a few hours ago, and they were sitting directly next to a big pile of the 500gb WD desktop drives marked at £54.99

Just off now to fill it with goodies. Thanks to the OP for the post.

I was lucky, went into PC world and the HDD was incorrectly sign posted at £54.99.

They honored it at that price and the store attendent immediately changed it to £69.99 after. :)
