It not so long back I paid £99 for A 500gb WD ibook. I've been very pleased with it and would get another. This is a really good price, my 80gb WD is still running strong after 5 years.
#7
Dirt cheap. Does anyone know what the exact model number of the drive inside is?
#8

I've been looking for a cheap 500GB for a while now.

any code / quidco for ebuyer?
#14
Best price per GB ever on eBuyer. This disk has 16 MB cache, 7200 rpm and 9 msec access --> so pretty top end specs for this class of IDE disks. I just took delivery of 400GB Maxtor from ebuyer a few weeks' ago for £55! So this one is at £57 is amazing value.
#15

Hmm i did make a post but it seems to have been deleted, anyway it said:

The WD site says mine is 16MB, seems the ones under 500GB are 8MB https://websupport.wdc.com/products/pf.asp?product=WDE1U5000U&s=search

WD data lifeguard diagnostics tells me the model number of my drive is WDC WD5000AAKS-00TMA0

how much slower are these than hard drives connected to sata/ide cables ?, can you run installed pc games from these ok also ? thx
#22
Over at XXX.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-143-WD&tool=3 the review says "Just to correct the specs given, the drive is the WD5000AAKS, which has 16MB cache (not 8MB) and with SATA-II connection."

Can anybody confirm this :?:

this deal works out at £67 instead of £57

on the checkout page, select 5 day delivery from the "deliver my order by" dropdown. Voila: £57.03 delivered

as the order is effectively free delivery, you may as well as add at least one of these bargainous 6-socket surge strips at £0.78 each courtesy of PlopPlop's excellent find.
