i really want it, but it turns itself on and off with the PC and i would only want to have it on a small time so without an on/off button its useless for me :(
#4
You could just unplug it from the USB port on the fly onthepunt

I guess that might be difficult if you have it plugged into the back of your PC though...
#5
Still in stock and ready for 24 hour despatch...

Thes have a power button so you can turn it off when you like, it also goes into standby after 10mins if inactivity.

Bah, I need one using Firewire, SATA or SCSI :( USB 2.0 is still pretty slow tbh.

Does anyone who has one of these know if it can be opened without breaking the case?

A maxtor one I had failed and I had to get the drive out to get the data off the drive so had to kill the warrentee...

Probably still get one. Thinking of the premium one as its only £20 for faster speeds... and more software!

I have two Premium and I haven't looked at opening them BUT WD have just released a RAID 1Tb My Book in the US which CAN be opened to change/swap drives. Should be here soon but probably £££!

Thanks for this, it illustrates why I buy 320Gb Premiums - lowest £/Gb.

320gb premium WD hard drive (firewire etc) just been reduced to £100.99 - I got 2 of them so better be quick.

And 2x250Gb is cheaper than a 500Gb on Amazon too.
#23
Nice spot Tenex - I would prefer 2 x 250gb drives as it happens, at least you have more control over your storage
#24
This drive is now down to £81.99
