Looks like a good deal, but just bought a 400GB (silver) from Novatech for £57.49 delivered. Still in stock at time of posting this if anyone is interested.

Absolute bargain, voted hot.

Scorchio!

Looks good to me !

Fantastic drive - bought one 2 months ago from PC World.
Id heard about the alleged fantastic transfer speeds and how one review had the transfer speeds being faster than their SATA drive, but unbelievably its true - jaw dropping performance and more important in these wee drives, a rock solid tight USB connection - no breathing on the drive and getting a write error.

Thankyou, just ordered one.

Ordered the 250 GB one for £44.99 yesterday. Logged on to the amazon account and noticed that the order was in shipment preparation stage and the order cannot be changed online at this point. Called Amazon CS and got the order changed to the 320 GB one.

Yesterday the 320 GB one was £54.99. So H&R to the OP for posting this.

Also, went through nectar eStores when I placed the online order. Currently there is promotion until 14 Aug for double points on Amazon UK purchases.

Didn't know about the Nectar double points, good timing as I just spent £840 on a new TV and stand there :-D

I know these don't have a power supply but what makes these worth the additional cost considering 1tb's are less than £70 these days?

Portability, small size, quieter, powered by USB. Its up to you whether you think its worth it, different needs for different people.

Depends really on your usage...im mostly on the move so having a large portable hard drive is great. I had one of the 160GB ones before. Used the 160Gb one with my Dell Mini netbook as the hard drive on it was a mere 8GB!

Excellent spot OP, just ordered. Heat + Rep given.

Fantastic find rayman and many thanks for posting. Ordered one for a friend (about 20mins ago).

Cheers

Exactly. For when a 64GB Flash/pen/USB drive just isn't enough!

£56 now, not too much of a bargain.
I was considering getting one in a spontaneous purchase when it was sub £50.
#17
You know what they say 'you Snooze you lose'...someone posted info on a 400GB version on Novatech for £57 i think which isnt bad at all considering you're getting an extra 80GB.
#18
Do not dismay if you missed this bargain. Buy a branded 320GB 2.5" from SCAN for between £40-£45 plus an external case for it for between £6 -£10, also from SCAN. You will find that the disk you buy is more likely to have more cache than the ones sold prepacked with an external case.
#19
not out of stock ... plenty in now.
#20
This is still live.

Can a mod please unexpire?

Unexpired as above

Price back down to £49.99 and in stock.

I think you'd have to destroy this case or at least do it some serious damage it to get the drive out. Better off buying a new SATA drive (amazon doing 320Gb for £42.99 delivered) and get a case from ebay for a fiver for your old one

Do you think its worth the extra £19 for novatech's own branded version? Even though the comments state that its got a samsung drive inside.

Just checked currys and they got some of these in for the same price. Only instore: Product code: 533727
Its cheaper by £5 than the 250gb version instore, is it a misprice?

That depends entirely on your storage needs and budget! And only you can decide if the extra 80GB is worth &19 extra or not. I personally prefer the look of the WD, though, and I suspect the casing will be more solid as the Novatec one just looks like a generic enclosure while the WD casing is sort of moulded around the drive.

Gah, ordered the 250gb one yesterday. Just spend ten minutes (mobile, chargeable) on the phone to Amazon CS, but no response.

Sent them an email requesting change of order - is it likely that this will be honoured? I'm in the same boat as the person above was ^

Good deal! Shame it clashes horribly with yesterdays...!

Does anyone know a good deal on a FIREWIRE version of this?
#31
Crudola... my order has been despatched - does this mean they can't change it now? :/

You have 7 days to return anything brought over the internet although you may be liable for postage charges which may defeat any savings you'd gain by returning it.

Recieved mine have deleted the included software and formatted it to NTFS

For added FireWire support, look for the Western Digital My Passport Studio line of External Hard Drives.
