Ick, Micro USB. I'd avoid it purely because of that; I wouldn't want to be taking a cable out with me when I want to plug it into someone else's computer.

Usually dispatched in 3-5 weeks, but still seems like a good deal to me.

Black one is in stock now for £55.50

You're thinking of Mini USB. Micro's the new format, which requires a whole new cable so that you can save approx 1mm of connector space. IT really sucks.

These work well on the mac too with 'time machine'. It seems to automatically load the software to Os X.

Was very interested until I read alot of bad reviews at amazon, mainly about the micro usb connection. Thanks to the OP anyway.

Micro USB is pretty widespread and is only going to get more so as a lot of phones are now using it (esp android and nokia ones) as it was chosen as the "universal connector" link. Granted the iphone never will but thats often behind the curve.

Yeah, I had a friend who got one of these for her laptop.
It's all fine IF you don't move your laptop around as the cable is about 10cm long and comes out so easily from the harddrive that it's pathetic

She's had many an irritating moment watching films or listening to music only for the drive to disconnect when she accidentally knocks it. Seriously it makes the drive not worth having, so avoid these at all cost.

Not a great deal to be honest, she got hers a year ago at around this price...

i dont know why people moan about the lead on these as theyre very secure and the length of it is perfect. People are just thick and want something to moan about!!

Have you ever owned one of these? I'm all up for short cables and new universal formats, as from my experience, the cables haven't fitted well! I wouldn't moan for no reason I just wanted so that they didn't spend money on something they were disappointed in!

blackberrys, android phone and new nokia's share this cable

640gb for £59.99 here - works out cheaper per gb (I have the 500gb version and had no problems with it).

My 500gbg WD is perfect nothing wrong with the cable over 13 months old

not a bad price, except for the crap software which partitions the disk in a weird way and needs to be immediately removed
