It plays divx, mpeg etc. You need a connection to the internet to update the player first

I would expect so, the specs were probably written before Windows 7 came out.

It's a USB HDD, it works with win 7 64 bit.
It actually works with every operating system.

yes, but you have to write 23 pages of code and wait 40minutes of beeping before you can access it.

On the plus side it stores 33.5 Trillion games (apart from Dizzy 4)

Does anyone know if this takes its power from just 1 USB or 2?

I have one of these units; in daily use (now) connected to my Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit machine (but previously used with Vista Ultimate 32-bit & XP Professional before that).

It takes power from a single USB cable/port (supplied).

BFN,

It plays divx, mpeg etc. You need a connection to the internet to update the player first

And you always need to be connected to live while some videos are playing (or atleast that was the case before the November dashboard update).

Steve.

I have a Sumvision Cyclone Micro and it does not have the power to run it having a 5v power adaptor. It does work fine with Xenta HDMI AV Media Player which runs on a 5.6v power adaptor.

Without taking it to pieces to install it internally, you can't use it as I think you mean (not even sure if that would work with this drive). Also if you plug it in via usb you can only access 16gb from the xbox. No matter what size, it will only allow you to use 16gb, and you can only do this with two (different) usb devices (e.g. usb sticks, usb hard drives).

This is an external drive. You want an internal 2.5" hard disk (it's cheaper because it isn;t in a sealed case/enclosure), then google for instructions on how to fit it (it won't be a clean fit, you'll need to stuff things in to make it set level inside).

Edited By: autofires on Nov 10, 2010 13:43: internal drive, thats what i meant.

To get this to work on your xbox or playstation.

Go to WD website, downloads and select your device.

Download the FAT 32 format (this needs to be done on a windows xp system, e.g did my one on my netbook)

Plug I'n the hard drive and open the FAT 32 ikon. Select the port of your external media device e.g G drive

Format the drive and Add your pictures, music , videos.

When done put into your xbox select the green xbox button on control pad and select music, video or picture library and select your external device. It should all be on their. I have a 500gb WD elements and it reads it all.

Good luck

I had the same problem but the problem was that I wasn;t using the small cable I got with the device! Changed back to that and it's fine again!

6% Quidco too, nice find thanks!

Edit*

Only 0.5% on PC components boo :(

Still nice price tho

I can't remember which portable this related to, but I read something similar recently, the drive model was renowned for it's 'click of death'; a fix used by a lot of folks was apparently to use a properly shielded USB cable...

Thanks waiting for something like this for a while, not bothered about 500gb or even 320gb.
Ordering 2! =)

Im fairly certain i can just connect to my O2 Wireless IV box and use it effectively as a NAT drive?
#39
Just ordered one - been after a new usb drive to replace an old 80gb that failed.
heat added.
thanks OP

USB cable type for these is the same as the connector on the HTC Desire too.. handy at work as I have one of these, and my Desire ALWAYS needs charging.. means I can leave my mains charger at home ;)

Heat added!!
