Just a slight mistake with the title, these are not v2, they are v1 but still good price!
#11
good spot on the reduced price! just emailed amazon for a refund.

these drives go easily into the PS3. (to extract the drive, slide the drive out horizontally along its long edge - a tip that would have helped me!)
#12

#13
How do you get this for £50.50? It comes up as £55.50 for me!

Was looking at these yesterday for £60 glad I waited till today bargain :-)

HOT!

Got one of these for my sister and it's so small and slick looking. She was amazed at just how small it was despite me trying to describe it to her.

Still have to use my £2.50 voucher, too :)

These are nice little drives, persuaded my friend to by one last year when they were £100 or so, nice and small, silent, I'd be tempted myself if I didnt allready have my own portable drive. Finish seems to last quite well from what I've seen of his one.

Dont think any have been released yet, i think those drives are still premium
#22
Yeah 500GB drives are just emerging so are at a premium price.

Hitachi 500GB on Play for £160. £160 ain't too bad actually... Just add an external enclosure - Scan have a good Icy Box one at around £10.

320GB is a more realistic option for £100.
#23
great wee find, i got it for £90 at currys instore couple of months ago and it was well worth it then so def a bargain now!

There seem to be some incompatible problems with WD Digital Passport, which people have reported in the feedback section on the amazon web site. Problems mainly relate to insufficient power from the included single USB lead. You may have to buy an extra double USB cable. Just make sure that this drive will work with your laptop/desktop. I have never read of any problems with other makes.
#25
Anyone know what the difference is between the V1 and V2 versions of this drive?

Yeah, that woudl make sense, my box has one of these double leads, all it does is allow additional power to be taken from your PC. Not sure of the cost but he would have got a good deal. If I find out where he got his from I'll get back to you all.

Does anyone know if this has an SATA drive, and if so would this work with the PS3. Could swap the PS3 drive with this and still have and external 60Gig or 40 Gig to fert around with. Only £4 dearer than Ebuyers and you get a the enclosure for £4 (Nice !)
#28
How is this not hotter. Add some heat people. This was a great deal at £65 let alone £55.
Smokin hot!

Nice spot... but can anyone explain what the difference is between this and the V2 of the drive (also previously asked). A little googling lead me to this info, but nothing else :(

Western Digital My Book Passport Essential 250GB USB Portable Hard Drive
Model Number : WDME2500TE
Amazon Price : £55.50

Western Digital 250GB Passport V2 External USB 2.0 2.5" Hard Drive
Model Number : WDXMS2500ETE
Amazon Price : £82.20

looking to get a few of these but want to know if there is any real reason to pay the extra for the V2 models.

thanks!

Can anyone explain to me how this:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/201336/buffalo-drivestation-250gb-serial-a/

Size.

That Bufallo looks seriously huge and will need an external power supply. Fine if you never need to transport it. On the plus side it should be faster than the Passport as most 3.5" drives are 7200RPM vs the 5400RPM of the 2.5" Passport drive.

This Passport will fit in a jacket pocket, is light, very attractive and is powered off USB so no bulky AC adapter (with any modern laptop/PC) and you could use it on the train for example with your laptop. That's why you pay the premium.

So if you will ever transport this or want to save on space get the Passport. If you're going to attach it to a PC and stash it behind a desk never to be moved save yourself the money and buy the Bufallo.
#37
for double the space and practically the same price with free delivery wouldnt this be a better option or am i missing something?

Good price.
I got the 160gig version of this last year. Despite having been dropped by my daughters a couple of times (at least!) it is still going strong.
Actually dropping is easily done if you forget that you've got it plugged into your laptop and then lift the laptop!

Will this drive work with Xbox 360 via USB? Looks like a good deal!
