1-3 months back order at moment. Great deal for those who ordered in stock items. I know Amazon are very ambiguous and often deliver a lot earlier than advertised, but who knows how much these drives will be in October.

Heat added.

... who knows how much these drives will be in October ...

6TB drives are now being introduced and with the prolonged period of high prices since 2011 - I guess we will finally see some significant price drops on 2TB and 3TB drives.

£50 2TB (only back to 2010 levels)
£80 3TB
£100 4TB
£200 6TB

My advice is don't buy any drives at the moment if you can avoid it!

Can it be bought separately? Bought one Red a week ago and now need another two and want them all warranted identically.

I could really do with one and the moment and the price isn't half bad, but 1-3 months delivery? :/

It'll likely be much sooner than that. 1-3 months is the standard message when they're out of stock, for popular items like this it should be a matter of weeks, they also sometimes dispatch from mainland europe warehouses when they don't have stock in UK. I've even ordered an item when it's said 1-3 months and had it dispatched next day.

Or you could always order, wait a week or 2, and if there's no news of an ETA from Amazon, cancel your order.

Ah I see. Never actually seen anything I wanted go anything other than "out of stock" or 2-3 weeks before on Amazon so thought it was a bit weird.
Thanks for letting me know, I might pull the trigger and see what happens.

Are those prices you have typed what you hope to see soon? Or what they currently are?

It's really just marketing. The drive will work fine as an external drive.

£50 2TB (only back to 2010 levels)

The price was extremely difficult to get in 2010.
I remember waiting for a deal which would give me 1TB per £25, and this never arrived.
I think there were some "golden" deals which allowed this ultra low price, but I always missed.
£50 for 2TB was EXTREMELY rare and you had to be lucky to get that price.

More realistically, I remember £60, for 2 TB, inc postage was common.

This deal is HOT, mainly because of the 4yr warranty.
However, I think they are out of stock now, so I wont be voting.
#22

Blastin, did you buy your drive from the same seller?
Some seller's source their drives from other regions, so when you come to do a warranty check, the warranty doesnt even show up and states that you should contact your retailer.

I got this one back in 2011:

They were £50 for a while at a few retailers. It's still going strong too. Haven't seen that price again yet though over the past 3 years.

I bought this exact drive for £133.75 from Scan in Nov-2012, so at the current price is hot for me.

I did a lot of research at the time and chose it for the data drive in my HTPC, for which it has been ideally suited.

Oh certainly, but just saying you may as well get a cheaper drive!

1-3 months does it really take that long ?

£83.88 via flubit. Ordered.

A few other places are selling this drive for roughly the same price, so I reckon they could come down in price a bit more yet.

£78 from them 2 weeks ago... prices rising, supply squeeze?
#30
yeah, prices have fallen the last week or so but bear in mind this does have the WD Care added which other similar priced drives do not. Seems to add £8-£10 to the drives from the quick few I've just checked on CCL and Ebuyer.

Just fallen nice for me though as my server is getting very tight on space. Might be worth holding off for a week or two if you don't need one just yet to see if prices drop further but in my case I couldn't afford to wait much longer...
#31
I want 3 of these for my server as well, but as I still have plenty of space on the 3 2TB drives, I can afford to wait a while longer

i can get they wd reds 3tb for £86 from china put a have to buy 10 of them

Beware fake WD drives from China.
You could get hit with Customs Duty, VAT etc, also and WD would reject any warranty claims as "Out of Area".

Hi! I bought them from amazon not any other seller. I registered the serial number for them on the WD care website which gave me 3 year warranty. Then I attached the extra key to activate the extra year warranty.

these say 1-3 months but it will be probably will be quicker. Amazon tend to give new stock buffer room. recently bought some corsair fans that said 1-3 months, arrived after 3 weeks.
