Does this drive works 100% with the PS3? I heard that there were some issues with BBC Iplayer by not using the original drive. Can anyone confirm please?

I found this info:

I have this problem. However I found that MP3 play back did not fix the issue completely.

I'm tempted to go for a Seagate Momentus drive instead and put this drive to other uses. Unfortunately my original 60GB drive is too small to copy everything I have back onto it to prove or not that the drive is still at fault.

In addition to the iPlayer issue, I get the occasional stutter whilst playing Burnout Paradise. Given that game streams data quite heavily and has a large update file on the hard disc, I think the drive could be an issue. It tends to do this when something changes (e.g. a car to shutdown appears).

I could have a fault on the disc, without taking it out wiping the drive and connecting it to a PC it is hard to tell.

Note I had the file system corruption problem that I had to fix using the hidden PS3 system menu.

Which version of the PS3 are you refering too? Does the version (slimline etc) make any difference?

Brilliant price, but heard western digital drives aren't the most reliable?

I have bought this drive but from Amazon and it works fine for me in my old 60gig PS3 except for every 5-10 times I start the PS3, it faults with the error that the PS3 cannot find a correct hard drive. I simply restart the PS3 and everthing is OK. I expect that I need to set a jumper on the drive or something, but it really is not too much of a hastle for me to bother at the moment. Other than that, I have not noticed any other issues!

Nope. They only stopped Datel memory products and anything along those lines.

Datel is in a legal battle with M$ now cos M$ are bullies and they claim it was an illegal update that blocked their products. Fair competition law suits are a daily fight for M$ cos they think they're hard :lol

Google is your friend. :)

If the link above isn't allowed, Google for the error on youtube.com (PS3 cannot find correct hard drive site:youtube.com). The top search result is the link above and is the video I watched to find out how to fix my 60GB PS3.

As the author of the "silent mp3" fix on the playstation forums,i can confirm that this workaround isnt a 100% fix .......But it works for the most part.

Cant say ive seen any issues in any games, yet .......I have around 53 PSN titles & 35 blu-ray games..(i also have burnout,i see no pauses)

But it would only take a game not to access the HDD every 8 seconds or so to cause major issues ingame .........This is how long it takes the HDD heads to park(,if the drive is idle .......Then the drive has to "unpark" ,this is whats causing the problems with iplayer..

Like i said,It will only be a matter of time before a game is released that will have major issues.....The WD 1tb caviar green desktop drives, also have this issue and do cause problems in some PC games.

Havent come across one as yet though......

Overall,i'm very pleased with my HDD ........At the moment.

Ordered the 500GB version of this drive from Saverstore this morning who had it on offer for £55 + £5.99 p&p but duly cancelled it and bagged one of these 320GB instead as it's far better bang for your buck! :-D

Heat/rep left for OP, many thanks!

They can't, they are cloned from the official products.

The Datel ones aren't, they were made with the usual Datel-type work arounds which is why MS were able to do something about them.

Just ordered this after umming and ahhing about it for a week, offer still seems to be valid and working fine.

Still available from Dell at this price £36.52 after coupon.

FYI, my quidco validated @ £3.10

so 36.52 - 3.10 = £33.42

thanks for the deal
