HOT - considerin I paid the same price for a 250gb one the other day!
#2
odd I went for the frustration free packaging at first and was informed that it is 'Usually dispatched within 1 to 3 months'. Yet the traditional is in stock for immediate dispatch. So much for the eco friendly route

good price, but ill wait for a good price on a 640 gig, like i have been for years.

What's your opinion on a good price for a 640gb?

I kinda think this is okay at £47.08 inc Shipping

I'm still waiting for a decent deal on a 7200rpm 2.5"...

5400rpm generate less heat and are more reliable. Ebuyer and amazon do a 640 gb for £45 delivered - much better value I have one in my ps3 works very well.

Yeah, I put a Samsung 640GB in my new 320GB Slim, works great and cost only £45 delivered from Amazon. Put the 320GB in an enclosure.

Looking at £/GB this one looks pretty good for 500GB 7200RPM,
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/153103
£54.61 inc shipping

Only 0.05% increase in energy consumption too.

I always kind of assumed as it was over 20% faster it would use a lot more energy. 0.05 is nothing (or next to). Presumably that wouldn't cause any issues with the PS3, but you would get faster loading times off HDD?

Not in this case. The drive is hotter than 7,200 rpm drives.

That's the drive which is inside my PS3 now and it works perfectly.

You only end up with 596GB after the system has formatted it though unfortunately.
