Nice deal. I just wish you could divide the hard drive into more even partitions (it is either 10gb for ps3 and the rest for linux or vise visa)

Considering getting one for my ps3 but wondering whther i can really justify spending the money when i already have a 500gb external harddrive. Would be nice to watch stuff on my ps3 without the wire hanging out the front.....

I do but for some reason it stutters a lot sometimes, might be because ive got 156 episodes of the twilight zone in one files but when streaming from the pc they stop while they seemingly buffer, anyway, took the plunge and bought one of these, give me an excuse to use my playtv again

£65.07 delivered at Ebuyer - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150515
I saw it for £63 delivered last week I think!!

Loads of places have it for under £65 but most probably charge postage on top.

I don't get it, why is the Fujitsu crap? Had a 320GB drive in my PS3 for a while and no problems.

I had been looking at benchmarks for 2.5" hard drives previously, and the fujitsu's are nowhere near the top performers, whereas the WD is constantly way up the amongst the top contenders.

Sorry for the double-post BTW, dunno what happened there:?

The Fujitsu isn't bad and benchmarks only a tad behind the Scorpion, but WD has the better pedigree with regard to laptop drives. It tends to be a duel between it and whatever Hitachi has out at the moment with Seagate, Samsung and Fujitsu trailing behind.

As it is a laptop drive you would also have to take the likelihood of spin noise into consideration. Hitachis I have had in the past clicked audibly when seeking - this may be good or bad for you depending on how much feedback you require. Other drives had the unfortunate habit of whining, which was noticeable in quiet environments like libraries. One WD did this for me, although WD is generally accepted to be the quietest notebook drive available, hence its popularity. Probably not a priority in a PS3. Fujitsus are middling in this respect.

This is the drive of choice for people upgrading the HDD on Macbooks (check out all the recommendations on AV Forums, Macrumors etc.) Very well rated drive and if I only had £65 i'd buy it right now.

Voted hot.

Quick Noober Question:

If I wanted to upgrade my PS3 HDD to this - what happens to all the stuff on my current PS3 HDD? Would I have to do download it all again from PSN? Or can you transfer it over externally then fit it?

Sorry for being a bit thick!

You back up your hard drive and then transfer it to the new drive. Think you have to do game saves seperately so dont forget to do that.
