Manufacturer's Description
WD Scorpio Blue drives offer high-performance, low power consumption, and cool operation, perfect for notebooks and other portable devices. Pick the drive that suits your needs with the confidence in knowing that all WD Scorpio Blue drives are built to the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Massive capacity - whether they are in an external drive or a notebook computer 500 GB WD Scorpio Blue 2.5-inch drives offer the most available capacity for space-hungry operating systems like Windows Vista plus plenty of room left over for photos music and video.

Quiet - in a notebook drive silence is golden. WDs exclusive WhisperDrive combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drives on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data which significantly improves power consumption. So now silence (and longer battery life) is golden.

Reliable and rugged - WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD's SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up spin down and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long-term reliability due to less head wear and improved non-operational shock tolerance

***Word of advice, use the right size screw driver if you are upgrading your PS3 as you can chew up the head (it's really soft)***

Good find mate, I need one soonish though and so for £4 more, and using a £5 voucher from tracy and matts blog, I'm going to order with next day delivery from expansys!

Doesn't this cause an issue with using iPlayer on the PS3? I have the 320GB version in my original 60GB PS3 and iPlayer glitches like hell. My 80GB PS3 without the HDD upgrade isn't anywhere near as bad.

The supposed workaround (silent MP3 in the background) didn't seem to work completely for me and is a faff.

By the way, why do so many people want such a large drive in their PS3? I have a bunch of movies converted to a PS3 format, a lot of PSN games, a lot of PSN movies, some demo's and a lot of installation files and I can still (just) suffice with a 80 gb drive. I can imagine people wanting to upgrade to at most 320, but isn't this a little too much?

PlayTV recordings can take up a lot, some of the bigger PSN titles, such as Siren, eat space.

:whistling: I didn't even bother changing the drive in mine as I've got 4Tb's worth of media so it was never going to fit. I just stream it instead.
