I bought one from Play.com and the way it was packaged was shocking. It was in a padded envelope, paced in another box and sent royal mail - unsurprisingly it didn't work.

Sent it back for a refund and bought one from ebuyer.com which was packed 100x more securely and delivered by courier.

Not saying that they will all be faulty, but just that other sites take more care with what can be a fragile component.

If you read the thread you will see that inside the external hard drive case there is a normal sata 2.5 HD.

just buy it and put in you laptop. Just did that for my wife. As a plus you can put your old drive on the case and use as an external storage drive.

Yes, the SAME happened to me, Play are just not packaging these drives properly when they are sent out. Mine was wrapped in the paper invoice and put in a thin envelope. I sent it back in disgust. I think most people will be be buying these drives for their PS3's and probably don't realise how fragile the HDD is, which is why Play are getting away with it. Play's standards are starting to slip in my opinion, several items I have recieved recently have been packaged poorly. The fact that it is free delivery is no excuse.
