Am I missing the point of this website? To me this is not a deal. You've simply found the cheapest price for this item.

Actually I'm not a troll. I like to use this site to find proper deals. You know, one-offs where you can save a lot of money.

Trouble is, everybody just keeps posting something at its cheapest price and it becomes harder an dharder to find good deals

Imagine if I went through every single hard drive, CD, laptop, camera etc etc, and posted each with its cheapest price. What would be the point? Surely we can all use internet price comparisons if we need something.

This web site should be for those deals where you end up buying it even if you don't need it simply becuase its such a good deal. If I don't need this drive at £45, I don't need it at £40.

Seems a good price to me, and I should think it would be very useful to anyone looking the cheapest 2.5" 320GB drive, regardless of whether or not it is a "deal". Voted hot

Chill Winston. A five pound saving is obviously more important to some than others! (Myself included).

That's what the voting system is for; so that really hot deals rise to the top of the listings. It is also useful to have posts like this as a reference for what the current best price is for an item. I have a PS3 and have thought on and off about whether 80GB is enough space. £39.99 might tempt me to upgrade the drive. Thanks to Andy for posting. Cheers.

Lukewarm. It's only about £1.50 more elsewere, and I think I'd rather pay the extra and get it quicker and from a British retailer who are legally bound to obey the SOGA.
#13
Don't expect to have a full 320GB on your PS3 when you put it in, mine shows something like 264GB, because Sony reserve a certain percentage of the HDD for some reason.

Play.com are from Jersey, it's not like India or something. Plus you get Quidco/RAC codes

Its reserved for the PS3 OS and other things. You automatically will lose 20gb anyway even if you formatted it in your PC.

never really had many problems with play, and if i did they've always managed to resolve any issues. Plus u can get nectar points or quidco. Like many here i've been with them for several years now.

u never know when ppl might want to check out the deals, even if it is a £5 saving then maybe be great for some and so so for others. If anyone feels that its not a great deal, and a waste of time then use the voting system.. that's what its there for.

Thanks for posting up the deal Andy, u've been proper on posting lately lol.

looking for a HDD but can't afford it atm.. will wait because i cant see this price going up dramatically (if it does that is).

Anyone know if you get a 3 year warrenty with this drive like you do with ebuyer as ive a few drives pack up on me in the last few months and would like the peace of mind, also what size of screwdriver do you need to use it with a ps3?
Thanks in advance

I think WD give a 5 year guarantee not sure though. I've a 6 year old WD drive that's still got to break on me and I've never had a WD drive break. Not sure of the screwdriver size but make sure its the exact size, you can't get away with using any phillips screwdriver as the heads on the screws are very soft and easily break.

Good deal for this drive.

I hope that Play.com have improved their packing for these. I bought one of these in Oct last year..... it turned up in an anti-static bag as you would expect. But it wasn't boxed, it was delivered in a jiffy bag. Needless to say the drive was bjorked when it arrived and I had to go straight to WD.

Anyway, still a good price, so voting hot.

Still took two weeks for my last order to arrive. I think for the price of a bus fare, it's worth next day + SOGA.

At least you received the item. My iPod touch I ordered from play.com vanished, had to wait 28 days to be sent another. It came in a jiffy bag, no signing for or anything. No wonder the first one vanished.

and has anyone had any problems since installing this new hard drive?

Waiting for a 500gb drive to hit this sort of price, especially if you lose 20gb to the OS and 40gb to the OS :woot: (My 80gb drive shows well over 70gb)

Why is this expired? It's still available at 39.99.
