This is the lowest price this has ever been on Amazon or anywhere else, great bit of kit and the 'hub' version with the integrated 1TB drive is also down in price to £149.48

For a streamer considered one of the best all rounders, It's an absolute steal!!

Great price - think these will become marginalised as TVs get more and more media features, but my new LG tv, whilst it can play almost all video, comes up with 'unsupported format' for a lot of audio. So still use this quite a bit. Great little player, and a no brainer at this price.

Hi, Are you sure there is a 1TB hard drive in this i cant see it on the specifications and tbh i didn't think these had integrated hard drives, Cheers.

Edit: are you not thinking of this one WD TV Live Hub Media Center 1TB £149.48

The OP was saying the integrated 1TB drive is also down in price to £149.48.

It even upscales to 1080p!
Best and most used equipment in my home! This is a fantastic price.

only problem with wdtv is they use sigma chips - thus will never support realmedia!
for that reason I bought a seagate goflex tv
If you dont care about rm/rmvb formats, then this is a no brainer

Tempted to get this. Anyone able to comment on whether this is better than the Asus O!Play HDP-R1, which Scan currently has on its Today Only page for £59.99 atm?

never seen your quoted format in my life and i download all the time!

The O!Play has e-SATA so presumably able to stream data faster than USB 2. Would this be an issue with HD video?

The are common for Chinese TV files, im guessing very few people in the uk will give a crap about rm/rmvb.

Would anyone be kind enough to explain the difference between this and the Sumvision Micro 2 at half the price?

I need a Media player to play the various .avi and .mkv files I have stored on a 1TB USB Hard Drive. Which shall I go for?

Regards

hi, ive had one of theses for a few months nows and its simply plays any type of file you throw at it. The 1080p playback in 10/10.am ordering one for downstairs! higly recommended at this price!!!!!

Does this do box art for your tv shows etc?
#22
Does anyone know if the hard drive can be upgraded in the hub? Also can anyone who has seen both in action say which is better, the live hd with B-rad or the hub with standard firmware?
#23
Far better off getting this :-

KAIBOER H1055

Its got the latest 2011 realtek chipset and is a lot cheaper
#24
I've had this product for a while. The only problem I've found is plugging in a HDD with XFS file format (its been used with my Buffalo NAS box). BRAD sorted that out though. Very easy to use with widgets and works brilliantly over DLNA... something my new Sony TV wont do!
#25
No network on above completely useless
#26
Why don't these have wireless built in, and why are so many not bothered? Wireless adapters cost around £5 these days. I don't want another item sticking out from this unit.

You can't stream 1080p over wireless so what's the point having it in a 1080p HD media player.
#28
can i add an IDE/SATA drive to the unit? or only in the hub version?

As said, its not network compatible so what's the point.

Oh ffs! I bought one of these two days ago from somewhere else for £79. Been putting off gettign one for months as well!

Great product from what I've used of it so far.

Any One know of a good WiFi adapter to use with this? I wanna get One for the bedroom
#32
Just means I don't have to have a hard drive plugged in to it to watch films that have been downloaded, just stream straight from the PC
Hiroki
Whats the benefit of it being networked enabled?

Want to know before I decide to upgrade from my older wdtv.

Access files anywhere on your home network
Play movies, music, and photos from any PC or drive on your home network. The Ethernet port connects this player to your home network through a wired connection or via popular, supported WiFi adapters (sold separately), and is ideal for use with WD's My Book World. You can play content from most popular USB drives, digital cameras, camcorders, and portable media players that can be recognised as mass storage devices, and compatibility is optimised for My Passport portable hard drives. There's no limit to the size of your media collection; just add more USB drives for more space. Plus, with two USB ports on the player you can connect multiple USB storage devices and access them simultaneously. Our media library feature even collects the content on all the drives into one list sorted by media type.

Will I need an optical cable to send 5.1 audio to my amp or will the HDMI lead suffice?

Cracking little player - having had WDTV/Asus O!Play/Xtreamer/Sumvision players over the last 18 months or so this trumps them all quite easily.8)
