So you are saying it can play HD audio? I think not.
And what can this play that the AC RYAN cant?
To me seems the AC RYAN can do more
#11
So if a 1080p MKV had standard DTS or DTS Master audio normally FraMeSToR stuff are you saying this cant play it?

Mine plays DTS audio , but it is plugged into my Onkyo 507 amp

This cannot play HD audio the AC RYAN can.
This will downsample to dolby, were as my AMP lights up Master audio, this will not, it will show Dolby or DTS thats it.

I cant really comment on the AC Ryan , I was just tryin to post the best price I could find on the WD player which I am very happy with.
#17
True, but I am saying there is better.

Just like when tv's and laptops are posted, people will say there is better.
#18
Is it better in any other ways? Genuine question.

How many people can take advantage of HD audio? How many people get the most out of DTS?

I've got a pretty expensive sound system and I'm not convinced I could tell the difference between HD audio and DTS (or even DD and DTS).

I'll get cash out the ATM machine to buy it.

I've had this box for a while now and I used to think that the WD TV box was awesome, until I got the new AC Ryan HD2 box a week ago, WOW!

This is good for the price, but for another £15, you can get the AC Ryan HD2 Mini, it's the newest tech and does more, better.

:)
#24
Plus there is a reason why the price of the WD TV box is coming down so quickly......competition! ;)

Same here the FF/RW is useless on the PopcornHour and I had mine when they where the only media player to have and they where nearly £300 I have the A100 and considering how much it was my AcRyan runs rings round it, it boots up 10x faster its prettier FF/RW is much better and it doesn't loose the workgroup for no reason which lasts for months with no reason and it just reappears out of no where and you cant find the reason NWT forums don't have a answer either.

been checking out AC Ryan boxes - never heard of them before. The bluray iso support is cool.

Serious question peeps. I am considering WD v AC Ryan v Acer Revo. I have pretty much ruled out a hacked Apple TV I think.

My setup is this. I have a NAS ( the cheapy Dlink 323 gigabit one) linked to a gigabit switch which is then linked via homeplugs to an upstairs adsl router. I want to stream movies etc from the nas to the main tv and also to a bedroom tv connected to a ps3 (I plan on buying another homeplug to better connect rather than ps3 wifi).

I want true HD sound (I plan on buying av amp etc), proper streaming around the house from te NAS, as everything is wired through the switch, and a good GUI.

I've heard the AC Ryan struggles with streaming when not directly hard wired to a USB HDD source. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I was set on getting a Revo to run XBMC, but have started to explore other options like these. Any advice or thoughts.

Ta muchly ;)

Actually the seagate goflex TV worth a consideration.

At similar price level it support more formats. Downside is they charge a premium for the wifi dongle, and the sata slot only support certain seagate goflex hdds. Comes with a cheap and crap remote but there is an iOS app to use the remote function over wifi (though you have to download from US app store)

I am intended to use a pricey NAS+powerline adapter so no issue 8)

Price shot up now to £71.08.

Also, don't forget to go via http://www.nectar.com to collect your Nectar points at Amazon - it's double points until March the 3rd!

Anyway thanks to the OP - I've been watching the price recently, and checked the price yesterday, when it was still up at £76.00!

Just shows you the power of lots of people looking at lots of stuff.
