First post so be gentle! :)

I think £39.99 for this drive is a great price alone, but the free extended warranty (3 years total) with express 24 hour replacement makes it that much better!

It's been this price for ages, just hardly in stock. Not really hot, more like standard price really.

Pretty much the standard price for this.

How can it be a 'good drive' if you've 'had two fail on me'? More details please, when did they fail?

Bought one of these the other day. To be fair it is about a quid cheaper than usual...heat! :)

Green is slowest, then blue is second fastest and black is the fastest. And the faster drive the more noisy because its a mechanical drive.

The other post didn't make clear the extended warranty was included.

The drive is good - firmware revisions have upped performance appreciably since its introducton - we have several and it does well in RAID as well - it's not a 'Black' performance drive, but it's better than other desktop 'Blue' type HDDs we looked at.

The extended warranty is a plus, and all the HDDs we've had from amazon have been well packed, but this is a fairly typical price.

looking at the benchmarks http://hdd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/WD-Black-1TB-2013-vs-WD-Blue-1TB-2012/1822vs1779 they seem simular I guess its just a sticker and warranty compared to the green drives with slower rpm.

Got this a couple weeks ago, it was so loud, kept making a pulsing noise. My friend bought one as well, same noise.
I'll stick to my Samsung.

^^ yes this drive is a little loud , I had a WD green that never made a noise but its only the initial spin up when loading something , Speed wise its alright , transfering bf3-4 from my ssd at 140mbps+ (failing wd green was 60mbps trans) Game loading times havent been impacted too much either.
