PS3 upgradable HDD

To make drive selection simple, weve gathered all our popular 5400 RPM WD Scorpio drives under one umbrella we call WD Scorpio Blue. Built to Western Digitals awarding winning quality standards, these drives are available in a full range of performance features.
Key Features

* Massive capacity - Whether they are in an external drive or a notebook computer, WD Scorpio Blue SATA drives are available in capacities up to 500 GB and offer the most available capacity for space-hungry operating systems, like Window Vista®, with plenty of room left over for photos, music, and video.
* Quiet - In a notebook drive, silence is golden. WDs exclusive WhisperDrive combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drives on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data, which significantly improves power consumption. So now silence (and longer battery life) is golden.
* Reliable and rugged - WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD's SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long-term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non-operational shock tolerance.
* Fast and efficient - With 5400 RPM spin speed and 12 ms access time and up to 3 Gb/s SATA interface speed, even the most demanding customer will appreciate the performance achieved by WD Scorpio Blue drives.
* Tested for compatibility - We perform tests on hundreds of systems and a multitude of platforms in our FIT Lab and Mobile Compatibility Lab to give our customers confidence that our drives will work in their systems.

Not what I would call a deal saving 29p on competitors prices, especially when they offer free delivery with cheapest delivery this is £42.57 or £42.91 with next day.

Sorry cold for prices not correct if including delivery!

Sorry mate, Ive already voted cold now, but for a decent drive this aint too bad, I think the problem is many people will overlook its form factor though.

I don't get this.. Play delivery is usually pretty quick and am yet to not have an order dispatched with 24hours. Amazon can take days, last time I ordered with free delivery it took a week for them to dispatch it el'cheapo second class!

Apart from the fact this is a dupe, whether the saving is 29p or £29, this is the cheapest for this delivered, no?

Heated.

When my ps3 went back to be repaired they made a point of saying it should be returned with the original hard drive (they just did a direct next day swap) in it so I fail to see how a 7200rpm drive can void the warranty. Saying that, most tests have shown there is no improvement in the ps3 performance for the faster drive so no point spending the extra money.

Back to the drive: bought one of these for the same price a few weeks ago on Amazon for use in a laptop where the drive had died, straight swap no problems. Previous drive was a 250gb so it also meant a slight size upgrade.

Anyone have an idea where I can get the kit to put one of these into a Dell Studio 1737 as a second drive, where the kit doesn't cost more than the drive ??

Thanks mate. Seems a lot for a caddy and an edge connector? Or maybe I'm just tight :)

Still cheaper than Dell, I'm guessing theirs are gold plated. . .

I had one of these drives and bought a 2.5" sata to usb HDD drive enclosure from Ebay around £5. It works a dream, comes with a case, convertor, usb leads and screwdriver. Its great for backups, XP/Vista easy transfer etc. And it makes it portable!

It is a lot for what it is but that's the price you pay for buying Dell I'm afraid. I searched for around 20 mins on Google and the one on Ebay is by far the cheapest I came across that is also available.
