Having spotted the earlier deal for the I-Omega drive, same capacity, I found this which is still in stock in many outlets. Good drives and a good price from what I can see. Make sure you use 10HD for the extra 10% off for this price.

Smaller, sleeker, more streamlined design - We've made these award-winning drives even smaller, sleeker, and more elegant. As always, this book-like shape takes up minimal space on your desk and allows two or more My Book drives to nestle neatly together like volumes on a shelf.

WD SmartWare - See your life safe in one place. See your backup as it happens Seeing is believing. Visual backup displays your content in categories and shows the progress of your backup.

Protect your data automatically Relax, your data is secure. Automatic, continuous backup will instantly make a second copy whenever you add or change a file.

Bring back lost files effortlessly Retrieve your valuable data to its original location whether you've lost all your data or just overwritten an important file.

Take control Customize your backup, set drive security, run diagnostics, manage the power settings, and more from the WD SmartWare control center.

Drive lock - Gain peace of mind knowing that your data is protected from unauthorized access or theft with password protection and 256-bit hardware-based encryption.
Illuminated capacity gauge - See at a glance how much space is available on your drive.
USB 2.0 interface - A simple connection that offers convenience and compatibility among multiple computers.

Power miser - My Book external drives are designed to save energy. WD GreenPower Technology lowers internal drive power consumption by up to 30%, a sleep mode reduces power during idle times, and a power-saving feature turns the drive on and off with your computer.

Planet friendly - We designed a small retail box from recycled materials to minimize waste. We encourage you to recycle it.

BTW...contradictory information above but I have a Mac and have reformatted previous other drives easily so this 'shouldn't' be a problem.

you cant use the 10% code on this item as this item is a collect in store item only so nowhere to use quidco or the promotion code to get cashback or discount. As a result the Iomega get the value for money choice

heat added though thanks poster

er, yes you can

I used this last night with the code (and quidco) and the 10% off worked fine for me, too. 90 quid collection by end of business Friday. Not sure about the quidco yet though ;)

Thanks to you both for your comments/heat etc.!

hey guys thanks for that i overlooked the promotion box at the top of the page

Out of stock across the North East :x
#7
Cold - filling this drive via USB will take a day or so. Better get one with eSATA - plus you can get a better price if you shop around.
#8
I'd be keen to see a better price for this drive if you have one. I haven't collected mine yet.
#9
not sure if this is better then iomega deal??
Which one is more suitable to use on ps3 and xbox 360 for media files?
#10
Seems a top price to me, especially for a quality drive such as this WD. Ive heard some bad stories from Techy mates with the iomega drives so i would go for this.
#11
Damn all Out of stock in Bedfordshire area!
never had any issues with WD drives before, shame as it seems a nice deal

unfortunately, my old computer doesn't have eSATA compatibility, so that's why I'm interested in this. I've also had good luck with WD

as for the price, the cheapest I can find is from Dabs: £104.08 delivered (any codes out there?)
where have you seen this cheaper?

Do share and tell us where...

Damnit, been wanting this for a long while (love my 1tb mybook but it's full now), but there's no stock near me :-(

Heat & rep added, though.
#16
I reserved mine in Harlow just before posting the deal (selfish, I'm sorry!) but apologies there is low stock. Maybe try the delivery option...bumps the price a little provided you don't go for weekend delivery maybe?

Thanks for the H&R people ;)
#17
Great price. Don't see the problem that it's USB only, if you're transferring that amount of data, you're presumably not going to want access to it immediately....well, not for what these are generally used for anyway....

Showing (for me) as not available for delivery.

i hate when people say they can find better and dont share the details and dont post the bargain either .

People can be so quick to comment yet make no effort to contribute .

#23

For the 95% of us who couldn't give a monkeys about eSATA it's a good deal, shame there's none in the Midlands (well not yesterday, anyway). I went for the Samsung Storybook 1.5TB for £90 from Amazon.

Yes, it didn't have eSATA
No, My life is not over

Just picked mine up - nice! :)

Sorry to those who couldn't get hold of one but do check over the next few days as stock may become available.
#29
Does this do RAID.

If not any pointers on a RAID Drive with network..

Any clues?
#30
Not sure on RAID, but it seems to be working fine after reformatting for Mac Snow Leopard. Moving 10GB took about 8 mins on USB 2.0 so I'm not complaining that there's no firewire (although it would be nice).

w00t! No option to collect, but now giving me the option to have it delivered. I went for free delivery, and it's scheduled to come on Fri 26th.
Thanks again, Drifta.
#32
Nice one, Late! Glad to hear it! I have been filling this badboy up from my two old drives overnight and have done 600GB onto it in 6 hours...starts off slow but then picks up the pace. ;)
#33
Wish WD would put firewire 400 back into their external 3.5" harddrives. Have the older My Book premium so doesn't take up the 1 of 2 USB ports on my Mac or 1 of 3 USB ports on my notebook. At least then I could daisy chain the damn things.
#34
Gah - out of stock...I'll check to see if they re-start this deal.
#35
My delivery got cancelled as it was out of stock.
Now showing back in stock, and I've got one reserved to pick up (so long as they don't dick me around again ;-) )
