Your kidding right, have you been in a Wethherspoons lately, the drunks couldn't get a seat, they're all taken up by the wrinkly's getting their bargain lunches.

This deal was better a few weeks ago before the menu change, when it was £3.09 with the bread and butter included

**** DEAL

I don't know what Weatherspoons is like for everyone else but I've been to a couple near me.

1. Crap service, normally only a couple of people running a bar that needs 4 on it.

2. Wait ages for food for what it is.

3. Food tastes terrible, we're talking the mankiest oven chips around, you know the ones that have the texture of runny mashed potato inside - just wrong.

4. Last time I went there there some of the chips were actually not cooked at all and cold.

Feels more like eating from a filthy service station these days, at least their "budget" meals do. They are so bad it's not even funny. Never used to be like this was quite a pleasent outing with the lads as a teenager going for a bargain meal there but we're talking 8-10 years ago here.

Sorry I cant quite see those fonts, is there any chance you could make them[SIZE="7"]

Another thing that ****s me right off with that place is their policy on changeing money, they won't do it without a sale!!! Yes I know this isn't un heard of but it is in a pub.

Not only this, you can play on the fruit machines there, get a win of say £20 and they won't change the coins without you buying another drink or make you feel like an idiot asking to buy a packet of crisps you have no intention of eating.

Arseholes.

I can't! You win

Made it normal size, in hindsight was abit silly...It just enraged me for a few seconds and felt the need to have a rant and make letter stupidly large.

Had many a meal in wetherspoons and never had a problem, always great value and served fairly promptly no worse than other establishments. Agree with the poster about the loss of bread and butter though meaning the value has reduced but still fantastic value.
#10
Weatherspoons is spot on no matter one anyone says, never had a bad meal yet from them. Apart from once I ordered a breakfast and it came out cold so they put it in the microwave and chucked an extra sausage on for me happy days, extra sausage!!!!

Don't judge your local wetherspoons without trying it.

My local is The Lattice House in King's Lynn.

Yes, they don't always have enough staff on.. BUT.. what people tend to forget is.. the pints are up to over half the price of other pubs. Example.. you can get a pint of Ruddles ale for £1.25, at the nearest non-wetherspoons to it the pints start at £2.80 (and the wait times can be just as bad). So I'm sure they could put more staff on, but they'll then get complaints at pint prices rising.

The staff are fantastic. I have made a great many friends among them. When I have had problems previously, they've been sorted out immediately.

Oh, and at The Lattice House, the staff WILL give change, but they ask that you wait until they next have a sale. I believe that's because not all of them are able to open the till without a sale (that's why I can't in my job).

I'm not saying all Wetherspoons are good, I know that not be true. I'm just saying give them a chance.

If you ever go to Birmingham International Airport, the Weatherspoons there is top notch. I particularly like their bread as you can get wholegrain rather than the standard white/brown. The big breakfast is about £8, but its fantastic.

Hi! :)I don't know what Weatherspoons is like for everyone else but I've been to a couple near me.

1. great service, normally only a couple of people running a bar but do it well.

2. Wait seconds for food to arrive.

3. Food tastes like food, we're talking the usual oven chips (is there any other type?), you know the ones that have the texture of runny mashed potato inside - just right.

4. Last time I went there some of the chips (about 2 to be exact) were actually not cooked at all and cold....so i threw them to the side...and commenced eating. thumbs up!

Cheap drinks for sure but the food is really poor and very often served luke warm. I have been in the kitchens and all the food is reheated in these giant ovens. Quite literally the only thing that sees a frying pan is an egg.

I find the service hit or miss. They are understaffed but work hard for the most part. I had a row in my local one a couple of nights ago when served the wrong drinks. They were exchanged ok in the end, but i had to endure being told it was my mistake 3 times. When i asked what happened to the customer being right, I was told I was wrong again by the bar wench chewing gum in my face!

So, in summary, a good place to have a drinking session on the cheap but only eat there if you have had enough beer to consider eating a kebab or last nights pizza!

Crazy how people who **** Wetherspoons off seem to tar them all with the same brush. Have you seen how many there are in the country? They vary everywhere, Ive always found the ones I usually go to Manchester to be totally spot on. And the prices for city centre drinking and food are great. Brilliant offers as well

cheapish late lunch, heat

Wetherspoons keeps the derelicts out of the park away from us and keeps the hideous Martin in his Leah jet away from us. Win win
#18
There's a little quirk in the current Wetherspoons menu:

For £2.99 there is the "Smoked Haddock Fishcake", a starter course.

For £5.99 there is the "Smoked Haddock Fishcakes", a main course with chips.

When my friend ordered the expensive one, he was charged for the cheap one but got the expensive one!!! The people behind the bar (or in the kitchen) didn't seem to know that there were two different meals with *extremely* similar names!
#19
Off the top of my head I've tried the two wetherspoons in weymouth, the one in street and one in taunton all recommended. Despite living in yeovil I've never used the yeovil wetherspoons.

I wonder sometimes what people expect for a £3 sit down meal that is served to you.

As in most of the above replies they provide a fantastic value meal for the vast majority of the time.

I'm sure some of the people who moan about places like this have never even set foot in them.

I have 2 ish near me, both very different

The one in Solihull is great, good food, full of friendly folk always busy. Ate there once in a large crowd and no one complained including me, I thought it as tasty enough for the low price.

the other one - in Acocks green IS full of alkys that get in at opening time and stay till they collapse. I ate there once and it was vile; but they were probably used to feeding people that werer so blitzed it didnt matter.

Agreeing with a previous poster; I think it depends on which one you go to, you won't know till you try. Thanks as always to the OP, heat added x x

I find that most times the food is lukewarm and that especially with chips or peas, that they have been sitting out for quite a while, and even when you return it that they still re-serve you another plate of food that is luke warm.
However that said it is good value and I keep going!
#27
Wetherspoons isn't bad for food, but drinks prices are quite steep now particulary on pints which can be had for far cheaper at other pub chains.
#28
Wethers is never going to be the best food you'll have out but just take it for what it is cheap sufficient food, I must admit they all vary in quality and service but all in all they are good value for money !
Its in the UK its Hot (usually) and its a deal - say no more.
#29
Had this a few weeks back and was really quite tasty, considering the price! :)
#30
Yea,had this many times at £3.20 with the bread and butter and it's excellent value.
As are their sunday lunches for 5.99 inc a drink,i always have Guinness with it as my local pub charges a ripoff £3.80 a pint!
#31
Their Fish & Chips taste horrible.

Price wise, this may be cheap... but quality is AWFUL.
#32
this is okay but nothing beats the beer and burger deal XD

i've never waited more than 10-15mins for my food around lunchtime/dinnertime
#33
Looks like a great deal to me.

The Wetherspoons near me is great - the service is generally quick, and has always been polite. The food has always been good, and the portions have been about standard.

For me, the £3.99 burger and a pint is a great deal, seeing as McDonalds is the same price if you want a Big Mac and chips, but for an occasion not quite as good (generally at Weatherspoons you can use up more time, and have more of a chat).

I suppose it depends where you are on what your local one is like, mine happens to be good - well kept, furniture all pretty new etc.
