Have one of these reserved - for 24 quid i'm not expecting much but is this worth it? Is it going to be too flimsy and die in 6 months?

good find, heat added

Great if you need one, but Asda was flogging them off at the back end of the Summer for about £15.
Did anybody remember that deal?.

It's got some positive reviews on the website, only negative responses are about it not having the instructions to put it together ...everyone managed it in the end though. The gas cylinders will cost as much as the bbq :D

If it has a clip on regulator that uses the green cylinder 'patio gas' it can be very expensive. It is probably cheaper in the long run (only one or two cylinders of gas) to replace the regulator and use 'regular' orange bottles of propane (just make sure you get the regulator for the make of gas you can get locally, i.e. calor, shell, flo etc).

Can you explain what you mean. I've reserved one under the impression the 'orange' canisters will do the job. just noticed the green cylinder in the photo Never heard of patio gas, can you elaborate please

Do you need to add some sort of coals under the cooking grills, or do you cook over the flame?? New to the gas BBQ so got no idea!

Different gases burn hotter than others, that's all.

I had one of these. Now I know it is cheap but it was rubbish. Takes ages to build (90' in my case and I had all the tools) but that applies to most Argos stuff. You also had to put together the parts for the actual gas burner which I thought was a bit dangerous because the instructions are vague to say the least - maybe that has changed now.

Also, no matter how tight you did everything up, it was so unstable, worse when you had a gas cylinder on the shelf. Note also that the larger cylinders don't fit on that shelf so prepare for paying the same price for 40% less gas in those smaller ones.

Also, once up and running, the very middle stripe directly above the burners gets extremely hot but the rest not at all. The heat distribution was non-existent so anything at the back or front stayed cold/raw.

And to the question above, no there are no coals and you can't add them either.

I gave mine away to the neighbours and they chucked it away after two uses for the heat reason I mentioned above.

BUT... it is cheap at that price so credit (heat) where it is due.
